Gaynor was and brought up by her parents and grandmother who lived nearby. During her childhood, Gloria always listened to music and stated that music was always there in her family home. Some of the names who influenced her the most were Nat King Cole and Sarah Vaughan. Apart from this, her family was also musical, as her father was a musician who played guitar and ukulele and sang in local nightclubs with the group “Step ‘n’ Fetchit, and her brothers formed a gospel quartet with a friend. After releasing two more albums of lesser success, Gaynor climbed the pop charts once again with the release of her “Love Tracks” album which contained probably her most popular song to date – “I Will Survive”. The song eventually received a Grammy Award for Best Disco Recording in 1980, and entered the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time list.
