Greg Mathis Net Worth $25 Million
Under the latest estimations, sources report that the net worth of Greg Mathis is $25 million; he receives $5 million per year salary for working on the syndicated arbitration-based reality court show “Judge Mathis”.
Greg Mathis was raised with three elder brothers by his mother Alice Lee Mathis. As a teenager, Greg got involved in street gangs, and as a result had lots of troubles, often leading to arrest. While he was imprisoned in the Wayne County Jail, his mother told him that she was sick with colon cancer. Because of this diagnosis, Greg received early probation, one condition of which required him to start working, actually at McDonald’s. He subsequently graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration. Mathis was disallowed from practicing law as long as he had an unrequited criminal past, however, after graduating from the University of Detroit Mercy he was elected a district court judge for Michigan’s 36th District and worked there for a five year period.
Greg Mathis is also active in politics. He began his career as an assistant to Clyde Cleveland who worked as a member of a city council. Afterwards, he worked as the head of Jesse Jackson’s Presidential campaign and Coleman Young’s re-election campaign. Later, he ran the east side city hall. Since 1999, Greg Mathis began to judge on the television program “Judge Mathis”, which is very popular up to date through its sixteen seasons, so far, and is the longest-running television court show by far, and in 2004 the show won the NAACP Image Award. Currently, the show has its own website on which people are able to buy tickets to the show, check the schedule, watch it online or even submit their own case.
Another popular website belongs to Greg Mathis himself, on which there is the possibility of submitting questions to the judge, or having a look through legal resources. There is also the facility to read about Mathis’ personality and life history.
In addition, Greg Mathis is an author – he wrote a novel entitled “Street Judge (Zane Presents)” (2008), which is about the life of a judge whose work includes solving murders. The second book, which Greg wrote in , is called “Of Being a Judge to Criminals and Such”.
Greg Mathis has been happily married to Linda Reese since 1985. The family has four children, two daughters and two sons.
