Afterwards, he was a student at both Hugee Theological Seminary and the New York School of the Bible, and attended the Philadelphia Bible University in Bensalem.

His musical career as a gospel singer began in 1985, when he won the Grammy Award with the choir that he established from his own gospel group under the name Hezekiah Walker & The Love Fellowship Crusade Choir. At the same time, he served as a Pentecostal minister. With the choir he released their debut album entitled “I’ll Make It” in 1987, and “Oh Lord We Praise You” in 1990, after which he moved focus on his career as a solo artist.
