Hiroyuki Sanada Net Worth $10 million

Growing up, Hiroyuki wanted to pursue a career in acting in action films, so studied Kyokushin kaikan karati and Shorinji Kepo, and also trained at the Japan Action Club, which helped him to develop his abilities. He became the protégé of martial arts star Sonny Chiba, and also made good friends with other popular actors, including Michelle Yeoh and Jackie Chan, acting with them in future films. Hiroyuki attended Nihon University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts.

Sanada wouldn’t become known as a serious actor until he was cast in the film “Mahjong Hourouki” in 1984, directed by Makoto Wada – since then, he’s appeared in every Wada movie. He would develop his skill and would display ability in a variety of roles which increased his popularity. His net worth also started to grow. In 1999, he started to perform with the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC), first appearing in a production of “King Lear” – his performance helped earn him an honorary MBE, thanks to his contributions to spreading British culture in Japan through theatre. He was the second Japanese actor to perform with RSC after Togo Igawa.

As Hiroyuki’s career continued, his net worth continued to grow with several hit films. Some of his most popular films have included “The Last Samurai”, “Ring”, “The Twilight Samurai” and “Kaito Ruby”. In 2005, he was cast in the film “The White Countess” alongside Ralph Fiennes, playing the Japanese imperialist Matsuda. He also starred in the film “The Promise”, and appeared in “Rush Hour 3” alongside Jackie Chan. In 2007, he was cast in another James Ivory film entitled “The City of Your Final Destination”, in which he played the lover of Anthony Hopkins’ character.

In 2010, Sanada was cast in the final season of the television series “Lost”, in which he played Dogen, and the following year made an appearance in the film “47 Ronin” which stars Keanu Reeves, the first English language adaptation of the famous story. One of his latest projects is guest starring in the series “The Last Ship”, in which he plays Takehaya, the legendary pirate captain and former Japanese Navy officer.

For his personal life, it is known that Hiroyuki married Satomi Tezuka in 1990 and they had two children, but their marriage ended in 1997. He is believed to be single now.

1Action is just one of my skills.
2It's hard for me to perform in English.
3If there is an action scene, I want to do everything myself.
4I was very comfortable on the set of 'Lost'. I was so nervous when I went on to the set because I had just watched all the 'Lost' episodes. I was, like, a fan. A big fan.
5Sometimes I'm doing a big movie, or sometimes I'm doing a TV show, but as an actor, it's almost the same thing for me. If I'm doing action, or comedy, or something more heartfelt, it's a different approach, but it's all acting for me.
