Inspectah Deck was born in Brooklyn but grew up in Staten Island, where he went to the high school with Method Man, Raekwon, and Ghostface Killah, with whom he would later perform in Wu-Tang Clan. Deck had a rough childhood in the Park Hill Projects in Clifton, Staten Island, after his father died when he was six, and his mother supported the family by herself.

Inspectah Deck co-founded the Wu-Tang Clan in 1992, along with RZA, U-God, GZA, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Method Man and Masta Killa, and the group went on to record seven studio albums, and sell more than 40 million copies worldwide. Their debut album “Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)” came out in 1993 and achieved platinum status with over two million sales in the US alone, peaking at No. 41 on US Billboard 200 and at No. 8 on US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. The singles “Method Man”, “C.R.E.A.M.”, and “Can It Be All So Simple” were among the most popular song on the album, and hit the charts in the US.

In 1997, Wu-Tang released the double album called “Wu-Tang Forever”, which achieved 4x platinum status and is their best-selling album to date. It topped the US Billboard 200, UK Albums, US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, and Canadian Albums (Billboard) charts, and received a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album in 1998. It helped the members of the group to become millionaires, including Inspectah Deck, of course. Their third studio album “The W” came out in 2000 and recorded over million sales in the US, reaching No. 5 on the US Billboard 200, No. 19 on UK Albums, and topped the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

The next year, Wu-Tang released “Iron Flag” which peaked at No. 32 on the Billboard 200, and No. 6 on Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums. It was the group’s first album that failed to achieve platinum status, but was certified gold with 500,000 sales. Ol’ Dirty Bastard died in 2004, and since then the group has recorded three more albums: “8 Diagrams” (2007), “A Better Tomorrow” (2014), and most recently, “Once Upon a Time in Shaolin” (2015).

Inspectah Deck has also released three solo albums thus far: “Uncontrolled Substance” (1999), which reached No. 19 on the US Billboard 200 and No. 3 on US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Album charts, “The Movement” (2003) peaked at the No. 7 on US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Album chart, and “Manifesto” (2010) reached No. 69 on US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Album chart; all helped Deck to increase his net worth significantly.

Inspectah Deck and 7L & Esoteric formed the group called “Czarface” in 2013, and so far have released three studio albums: “Czarface” (2013), “Every Hero Needs a Villain” (2015), and “A Fistful of Peril” (2016).

Regarding his personal life, Inspectah Deck’s most intimate details such as marital status and the number of children are unknown, as he successfully manages to keep them out of the public eye.
