Born in New York City, Keyes attended Amityville Memorial High School. During his college years in the State University of New York at New Paltz, he started taking acting seriously, and took part in his first play “The Lower Depth”.

Keyes professional career as an actor started in 1978. His height of 6’1” and big body led him to usually appear as either a policeman or a goon. Some of the early movies he appeared in during the early 1980s included “The Warriors”, “The Prize Fighter”, “The Exterminator”, “Friday the 13th” and “The Private Eyes”. His early years appearing in movies helped jump start his career, and also his net worth.

In 1981, Keyes’ career took a turn for the better when he appeared in the television series “The Jefferson”. His role as Hugo Mojelewski the bodyguard became one of his most popular roles ever, and even earned him the catchphrase “Hi! Remember Me?” He played the role from 1981 until 1984, and it helped his career and wealth tremendously.

Keyes regularly appeared in movies his entire career. Some of the films he appeared in included “Stardust Memories”, ‘Zapped!”, “Nice Girls Don’t Explode”, “Death Wish 4: The Crackdown”, “Frankenstein General Hospital”, “Guilty as Charged”, “The Flintstones”, “The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas” and “House of 1000 Corpses”. His acting credits spanned to more than a hundred movies that ultimately helped his net worth.

Keyes also frequently appeared on television, in shows including “Laverne & Shirley”, “Police Squad!”, “Married with Children”, “Growing Pains”, “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation”, and “Pretty Little Liars”. His appearances in television shows also helped in his wealth.

His last movies were “Angel Investors” and “Portend” in 2015.

Unfortunately, in 2015 Irwin Keyes passed away at the age of 63 due to complications from acromegaly. He died at the Play Del Rey Center in Los Angeles, California with his wife, Tracy, by his side.

In terms of his personal life, Keyes was married twice. His first married with Victoria Rosenthal but the marriage ended in divorce. His most recent relationship was with Tracy Fontaine who he married in 2008, parted only by his death.
