A successful actress Jackee Harry, have you ever wondered how rich she is? Sources estimate that the total size of Jackee’s net worth is over $6.5 million, as of early 2016. Obviously, her career as an actress has earned her a big part of her fortune over time.
Jackee Harry Net Worth $6.5 Million
Jackee Harry was raised in Harlem, New York City, where he studied acting at the High School of the Performing Arts on the Lower East Side. After matriculation, she went to the Long Island University. Before her acting career started, she worked at Brooklyn Technical High School as a teacher of American History.
Jackee’s professional acting career began in the 1980s, appearing in several Broadway productions, including “A Broadway Musical”, and “Lady Day” as Billie Holiday. However, her debut screen appearance was as Lily Mason in the soap opera “Another World” in 1983, and she starred in the show until 1986. During those years, Jackee also featured in films, particularly “The Cotton Club” (1984), and “Moscow On The Hudson” (1984). During the show, Jackee already showed her skills, and it was easy to continue her career successfully when she finished her tenure in the cast of the show, earning parts in productions such as “Alvin Goes Back To School” (1986), “The Incredible Ida Early” (1987), “Crash Course” (1988), “Amen” (1988-1989), and her first notable role as Sandra Clark in the TV series “227” (1985-1989), among others, before the 1990s.
Emerging as a new and talented actress, who had already shown her skills, Jackee earned parts in films and TV series such as “The Royal Family” (1991-1992), “Ladybugs” (1992), “Sister, Sister” (1994-1999), all of which added to her overall net worth.
The 2000s only increased the number of characters she portrayed, and the amount of her overall net worth increased further. In 2004 she appeared in the film “You Got Served”, and two years later, Jackee was cast in the film “All You`ve Got”. In 2006, she was selected for the role of Vanessa in the TV series “Everybody Hates Chris”, which aired until 2009.
To speak further of her accomplishments, before the end of the first decade of the 2000s, Jackee was featured in such productions as “G.E.D.” (2009), and “Man Of Her Dreams” (2009), among others, which added to her fortune. In 2010 Jackee’s net worth was boosted by several roles in such productions as “Friends & Lovers”, and “The Clean Up Woman”. The following year, she was cast in the role of Dolores Whitmore in the TV series “Let’s Stay Together” (2011-2013), and she also appeared in the film “The Ideal Husband”. In 2012, Jackee earned the role of Pauletta in the TV series “The First Family”, and two years later, she was featured in the TV series “Girl Meets World” as Evelyn Rand.
Most recently, Jackie has appeared in productions such as the TV series “In The Cut” (2015), “2 Broke Girls” (2016), “Young And Hungry” (2015), and films “The Man In 3B” (2015), “Hail Mary” (2016), and “Ladies Book Club” (2016). Her net worth is certainly rising with the continued demand for her services.
During her successful career, Jackee has earned several prestigious nominations and awards, including the nomination for the Golden Globe for her work on “227”, and Primetime Emmy award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her work in the same TV series.
Regarding her personal life, Jackee Harry has been married four times. One of her husbands was Elgin Charles Williams (1996-2003), with whom she adopted a son. Quote
1
[Of Marla Gibbs]: That Marla Gibbs was the star of it. She's strong. People took it for granted, but she implemented a lot of change on there. She did not hold her tongue. She fought for all of us. She and I are great friends. She and I have come full circle. She's the best person.
2
[on her feud with 227 star Marla Gibbs, who played Mary Jenkins]: That was true at the time, she and I since have become the greatest friends. We've come full circle, and by that I mean, we talked about it honestly and woman-to-woman, and she didn't have to but she did. People were putting things in her head and telling her things that weren't true and she was believing in them. And then she finally came to talk to me, and we got it all straightened out. We are the best of buds - me, her and Alaina Reed and the fabulous Regina King.
3
[on her departure from 227 (1985) and her on- and off-screen rumoured feud with Marla Gibbs, who played Mary Jenkins]: When Sandra took off and I took off with her, the truth is it did indeed create a lot of tension. There were problems on Marla's part, which was truly ridiculous because she had all the power. It was her show. Maybe the problem stemmed from the fact that from the beginning Marla wanted someone else for the part, but the network insisted on me. They were all pushing Sandra, and they were pushing me. That changed when I got big, maybe too big, in Marla's eyes. Not that Marla and I ever had any arguments. She was never rude to me, and we always remained cordial. But on the biggest night of my life, when I won my Emmy, not only wasn't there a party given for me, but there was also not a flower or a word of congratulations. Ever. There was nothing, and that hurt. Afterward, my part got less and less each week, and it became clear to me that it was time to leave so I did.
4
[on her comeback to television]: I'm trying like heck -- it ain't easy. You've gotta come up with a concept and we haven't found one yet.
5
[on her 2002 return to Broadway]: Well, I looked fabulous, it was hard work singing and dancing, lifting that leg up, that fan kick. It reminded me of the days when I really used to work for a living.
6
[on gaining celebrity status on 227 (1985), for which she won an Emmy Award in 1987]: It was great -- it was the best time of my life, actually, I wouldn't trade it for the world.
7
[on landing her first leading theatrical role at age 14]: I took my curtain call and they screamed and cheered and I got hooked.
