Jeff Garcia Net Worth $25 Million

Jeff Garcia was born as the third of seven children of Bob and Linda Garcia but his family suffered a few tragedies when four of the children died in early age, so Jeff only has two surviving sisters. He grew up in California and went to the Gilroy High School, where he excelled in both football and basketball, and after his graduation in 1988, Garcia enrolled at the local junior Gavilan College.

In 1990, Garcia transferred to the San Jose State University and played for the Spartans until 1993, and is still the player with the most offensive yards in San Jose history – 7,274. The scouts considered him too small for the NFL and he was undrafted, so in 1994, Jeff signed a contract with the Canadian football team Calgary Stampeders and led them to the Grey Cup (Super Bowl equivalent) win in 1998 over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

The San Francisco 49ers noticed his skills, so in 1999 they signed Garcia as a backup to Steve Young, and Jeff got the opportunity to shine after Young’s concussion sidelined him for the year. Garcia’s first NFL start was against the Tennessee Titans in a 24-22 win and he ended his rookie season with 11 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. In the next season, Steve Young retired and Garcia became the starter and made his first Pro Bowl appearance. He ended the year with 355 completions for 4,278 yards, 31 touchdowns, and ten interceptions, while he also had four rushing TDs and 414 yards.

In 2001, Jeff recorded a career-high 32 touchdown passes and led his team to the playoffs, however, the Green Bay Packers defeated San Francisco in the first round, 25-15. The following year, Garcia and the 49ers won the NFC West division, while during the 2002-03 playoffs, he led San Francisco to the second largest comeback victory in NFL playoff history, when they defeated the New York Giants, 39-38 despite trailing in the third quarter, 14-38. He had a disappointing season in 2003, so the San Francisco released him at the end of the campaign, along with running back Garrison Hearst and wide receiver Terrell Owens. Regardless, his net worth was now well set.

The Cleveland Browns bought Jeff Garcia in March 2004, but hewas released when the season ended because of his struggles; however, he recorded a 99-yards touchdown pass to Andre Davis in a win over the Cincinnati Bengals. His next stop was Detroit, but the Lions also decided not to offer him a new deal following the 2005-06 season, but he felt rejuvenated when joining the Philadelphia Eagles. Although signed to serve as Donovan McNabb’s backup, Garcia took the opportunity when McNabb suffered a season-ending injury and led his team to the playoffs with ten touchdowns and two interceptions, including five wins in a row.

Still, that wasn’t good enough for the Eagles who opted not to offer him a fresh contract, so in March 2007, Garcia signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and instantly changed their fortunes, leading them to the playoffs, but the Bucs lost to the eventual Super Bowl winners, the New York Giants. At the end of the 2008 season, Tampa Bay moved on from Garcia and he joined the Oakland Raiders, and then Philadelphia Eagles, but failed to make an impact. In December 2011, Jeff moved to the Houston Rockets to serve as a backup to T.J. Yates, but following that season, Garcia retired from professional football. During his stay in the NFL, Jeff Garcia recorded 25,537 passing yards for 161 touchdowns and 83 interceptions, with the quarterback rating of 87.5.

After his playing career ended, Garcia worked as an offensive consultant for the Montreal Alouettes of the CFL, while in 2015 he served as an offensive assistant for the St. Louis Rams.

Regarding his personal life, Jeff Garcia married the 2004 Playboy Playmate of the Year, Carmella DeCesare, in April 2007 and has two daughters and two sons with her. They live in Rancho Santa Fe, California.
