Jeffery James Tremaine, commonly known as Jeff Tremaine, is a well-known American film director and producer, television director, screenwriter, as well as an editor. To the public, Jeff Tremaine is perhaps best known as one of the creators of the popular reality series called “Jackass”, which first aired on the MTV network in 2001. With the focus on performing dangerous stunts and pranks, “Jackass” rose to fame immediately upon its release, and was even featured on the list of “New TV Classics”, compiled by “Entertainment Weekly” magazine. The main cast of the group included Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, Ryan Dunn, Chris Pontius, Steve-O, Ehren McGhehey, Jason Acuna, Preston Lacy, and Dave England. Over the years, “Jackass” grew to be one of the most popular series on the network, and as a result influenced the release of such spin-off series as “Viva la Bam” with Bam Margera, “Dr. Steve-O”, “Homewrecker” and “Wilbdoyz”. Soon after the series finished its run on television, a comedy film featuring the main cast of “Jackass”, as well as guest appearances from April and Phil Margera, Spike Jonze, Rip Taylor, and Tony Hawk, was released. Directed by Jeff Tremaine, “Jackass: The Movie” came out in 2002, yet upon its release was met with rather mixed critical reviews. Nevertheless, the movie managed to gross more than $79 million, and inspired the release of such films as “Jackass Number Two”, “Jackass 2.5” and “Jackass 3D”, all of which were directed by Jeff Tremaine.
