Jessica Hahn comes from a strict Roman Catholic family, although her father left when she was three years old. Her mother Jessica Moylan and stepfather raised her well, and she developed religious interests. Hahn rarely had boyfriends and spent most of her teenage years working for the church, and later she was employed as a secretary at the Full Gospel Tabernacle Church in Massapequa, Long Island, with an $80 per week salary.
The Reverend Jim Bakker and another preacher, John Wesley Fletcher, allegedly drugged and raped Jessica in December 1980 in a Florida motel room. She spoke with her minister Gene Profeta about it, and he secured her a lawyer who would settle compensation with Bakker. The Bakker’s Praise The Lord Club offered $265,000 to Jessica to stay quiet about the incident, and she did for seven years, but only received a mere $20,000 in small payments.
In 1987, she decided to go public with the story, after enormous pressure and media scrutiny, she even considered suicide on her 28th birthday but received a call from Playboy to sell them the story for nearly $1 million. Jessica accepted and moved to L.A. to live in the Playboy mansion with Hugh Heffner and other bunnies.

Jessica made a lucrative video “Playboy Celebrity Centerfold: Jessica Hahn Bares It All” in 1988, which generated more money to her net worth.
