John Goodman Net Worth

John Stephen Goodman net worth is
$75 Million

John Stephen Goodman was born on 20 June 1952, in St. Louis, Missouri USA of Irish, Welsh, English and German ancestry. He is a movie, television, theatre and voice actor, perhaps best recognised for his comedic roles.

So how rich exactly is this famous Hollywood actor? Sources estimate John Goodman’s net worth to be around $75 million, most of his wealth having been accumulated from his work as a movie actor.

John Goodman Net Worth $75 Million

John Goodman’s father died when he was two, and his mother Virginia worked several jobs to support John and his sister. In his childhood years, John Goodman was more interested in football than drama, even earning a football scholarship to Missouri State University. However, he also joined the drama program where he studied with other now well-known Hollywood stars Kathleen Turner and Tess Harper. After an unfortunate injury ended his dreams of a football career, he decided to become an actor, which is why he moved to New York in 1975.

John Goodman’s career started with voice-overs, commercials and plays. He began with small roles in movies from 1982, his first significant movie being “Eddie Macon’s Run” in 1984, but meantime in 1985 he was cast in the role of Pap Finn in the Broadway musical “Big River” for which he received a Drama Desk nomination. During this time, John also appeared in and hosted numerous comedy shows such as “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” and “Saturday Night Live”, which has significantly contributed to his net worth, his versatility being reasonably well rewarded.

Between 1988 and 1997, John Goodman starred in the TV show entitled “Roseanne” which was a great boost to his career and earned him a Golden Globe Award in 1993. John is also known for his work as a voice actor in animated movies such as “Cars”, “Bee Movie”, “Monsters Inc.”, its sequel “Monsters University” and many others.

In the past few years, Goodman has starred in such award-winning movies as the romantic comedy “The Artist” (2011), political thriller “Argo” (2012) and an American comedy “The Hangover Part III” (2013). However, during his career, he has received most recognition as a television actor. For his work in “Roseanne”, Goodman won two American Comedy Awards for Funniest Male Performer in a TV Series, and has been nominated for seven Emmy awards and five Golden Globe Awards just for this show. It is safe to say that his work in “Roseanne” has contributed a lot to not only to his fame as an actor, but also his overall net worth. Talking about his more recent achievements, it is worth noticing that in 2007 he won an Emmy award as an Outstanding Guest Actor In a Drama Series for his work in “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip” and in 2013 he won an Screen Actors Guild Award in Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture for his work in “Argo”.

In his personal life, John Goodman married Anna Beth in 1989; they live in New Orleans and have a daughter named Molly, who is attending a film school. In 2009, John publically admitted that he had had an alcohol problem in the past, but had managed to overcome it and save his career.

#Quote
1[on moving to NYC after graduating college] And then I learned what life was all about... starvation.
2[on whether the character of Dan Connor reflected his own life] No, because Dan actually worked for a living.
3[on Coyote Ugly (2000)] For the money. Honest to God, that's the only reason I did it.
4(2008) Celebrity is a dirty word. People are conditioned to hate you if you're famous or in show business. It's that love-hate thing. They can't wait for you to fail or get pulled over with a hooker or a stripper or a teenage boy with a lot of blow in the car.
5(2008) I always overtip. Because at the end of the night, your feet hurt and you get to count it up and there's a nice feeling when you've gotten tipped well. I know what it's like. My mom lived on tips.
6(2008) When I look at myself on film, I just see shit I should've done. I'm incapable of watching myself objectively. Unless it's The Big Lebowski. The writing is so goddamned good, you can just enjoy it, go along for the ride like everybody else. Babe Ruth is one of those things I wish I could go back and do over. It's like being in that dream where you're in the subway with no clothes on.
7(2008, on working with Al Pacino) I just idolized Al Pacino, and I was afraid that, you know, he was gonna wipe his feet on me or put a cigarette out on my neck or something. But he was so full of fire. He had such passion for acting. It's nice to meet someone like that.
8(2008, on avoiding the Vietnam draft) I went to take my physical. But they measured me two inches shorter than I am. They measured me at six foot instead of six foot two. I was eleven pounds overweight for that height. They told me to lose weight and come back. By the time I was scheduled to come back, the draft was abolished.
9(2007 - After completing rehab at Promises in Malibu) For my family and myself, I voluntarily took the necessary steps to remain sober the rest of my life.
10I quit a year and a half ago and I turned into a werewolf. I went nuts. I've been smoking since I was in junior high school. I did a couple of episodes of The West Wing (1999) two years ago and I was in the middle of one of these psycho things and turned around and smacked the stage door as hard as I could and my fist immediately swelled up. Thank God I didn't break anything, but that was the last episode I had of nicotine withdrawal. [on quitting smoking in 2003].
11I flew into New York for the Raising Arizona (1987) audition, and we just started joking around. I started going through their résumé pile, looking at actors, and just kinda made myself at home in my obnoxious way. I think they cast me because I had a baby face and that was a motif of the film. [on how he met and started his relationship with the Coen Bros.]
12[on his performance in The Babe (1992)] I wish I could do it again. I didn't have enough time to get it right.
13Doing Roseanne (1988) made me famous. To this day, people will call me "Dan Arnold". They'll shout out, 'Where's Roseanne?'
14We'll shoot in Los Angeles, on the same lot where we shot Roseanne. It'll be difficult because I live in New Orleans. But I really enjoy doing sitcoms. You've got 22 minutes a week to put on a new play. It keeps me off the street. [about his role as a gay construction worker]
