To the public, John McCain is perhaps best known as a presidential nominee during the 2008 Presidential election, where McCain together with a running mate Governor Sarah Palin lost to Senator Barack Obama and running mate Senator Joe Biden. Even though John McCain is best known as a politician, he is also a well-known writer. In 1999, John McCain published his very first book under the name of “Faith of My Fathers”, which served as McCain’s autobiography. The book became so popular that it not only topped the list of best-sellers, but was later made into a movie of the same title, which was directed by Peter Markle. “Faith of My Fathers” featured Shawn Hatosy as John McCain and Scott Glenn as McCain’s father, Jack McCain. The movie was eventually nominated for several Primetime Emmy Awards, as well as American Society of Cinematographers Awards.

His family eventually settled down in Northern Virginia, where he studied at the Episcopal High School. Upon his graduation, McCain decided to follow his father’s footsteps and joined the United States Naval Academy, from which he graduated in 1958. McCain began his career as a naval aviator in Pensacola, later acquired the title of naval pilot and eventually rose to the rank of lieutenant commander. When McCain decided to retire from the Navy, he chose a career path in politics, and in 1982 became the leader of the Republican representatives. As he became more prominent in politics, McCain went on to become a Senator and started his career in Senate in 1987. A famous politician, John McCain has an estimated net worth of $10.5 milion.

2The use of torture compromises that which most distinguishes us from our enemies, our belief that all people, even captured enemies, possess basic human rights.
3Our armed forces will fight for peace in Iraq, a peace built on more secure foundations that are found today in the Middle East. Even more important, they will fight for two human conditions of even greater value than peace: liberty and justice.
4The tea partiers are a great addition. They have invigorated a base that has been dormant for a long period of time. We're going to have a broad array of different views in our Republican conference, and I think it might be more interesting than any I've been in in a long time.
5I spent five-and-a-half years in prison. The worst part was coming home and finding out 'Green Acres' had been canceled. What the hell was I fighting for?
6I will not take the low road to the highest office in this land. I want the presidency in the best way, not the worst way.

9The core political values of our free society are so deeply embedded in our collective consciousness that only a few malcontents, lunatics generally, ever dare to threaten them.
