John Witherspoon Net Worth $8 Million

To begin with, John began his career as a stand-up comedian. He debuted in an episode of the television show “Barnaby Jones” (1977) aired on CBS. Soon, he was invited to land a regular role in the series of “The Richard Pryor Show” (1977) on NBC which was followed by a role in the situation comedy created by Hugh Wilson, “WKRP in Cincinnati” (1978–1982). Later, Witherspoon landed episodic roles in a number of television series including “Hill Street Blues” (1982), “You Again” (1986), “227” (1987), “What’s Happening Now!!” (1987), “Amen” (1988), “L.A. Law” (1990) among others. Then he became a regular in the sketch comedy show “Townsend Television” (1993), although it was closed due to low audience ratings. John was in the main cast of the sitcom “The Tracy Morgan Show” (2003- 2004) created by David M. Israel and Jim O’Doherty. More, he successfully voiced the main character of the adult animated sitcom “The Boondocks” (2005–2014). Currently, Witherspoon stars in the sitcom “The First Family” (2012–present) and voices the animated series “Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja” (2013–present). On the whole, television is a significant source of John Witherspoon’s net worth.

On the other hand, roles on the big screen increased the total size of John Witherspoon’s net worth, too. His first role in a feature film was a small one in Richard Fleischer’s film “The Jazz Singer” (1980) which was followed by being cast as a main in the films “Ratboy” (1986), “Hollywood Shuffle” (1987) and “House Party” (1990). After a number of other minor roles, Witherspoon starred alongside Eddie Murphy and Angela Bassett in the horror comedy film “Vampire in Brooklyn” (1995) directed by Wes Craven. However, the film failed at the box office as well as receiving mostly negative reviews. Fortunately, the same year John starred alongside Ice Cube and Chris Tucker in the crime comedy film “Friday” (1995) directed by F. Gary Gray which contrarily, was acclaimed by critics, and was even nominated for the AFI’s 100 Years Award as the Best Movie, and was financially profitable. Then, he landed the main role in Tony Singletary’s comedy film “High Freakquency” (1998). Witherspoon appeared in the main cast of the films “Next Friday” (2000), “The Ladies Man” (2000), “Friday After Next” (2002) and “Little Man” (2006). Currently, he is working on the set of the upcoming comedy film “Last Friday”. All these appearances had a positive effect on John’s net worth.

Finally, in the private life of the actor, he married Angela Robinson in 1988, and the family has two children.
