Johnny Damon Net Worth $60 Million

To begin with, Johnny Damon has been playing baseball since his childhood, at first appearing in the South Orange Little League. Then he played in the team of Dr. Phillips High School. Damon was a very promising player who was named the Florida Gatorade Player of the Year as well as in the High School All – America team by USA Today.

Johnny Damon was then selected 35th in the first round by the Kansas City Royals in the Amateur Draft 1992. However, his first game in major league team wasn’t until the 12th August 1995. For the previously mentioned team he played until 2000, then the following season he spent with the Oakland Athletics. His biggest successes were celebrated with the Boston Red Sox team, whose jersey he wore from 2002 to 2005. In mid-2003, Damon had three base hits in one inning celebrating the 25-8 victory over the Florida Marlins. In 2004, he was with the Red Sox team in the World Series playing against the St. Louis Cardinals, which the Red Sox won, which had been almost 90 years in coming since their last World Series title. Damon was used this season mainly as a lead-off hitter; he had a batting average of 30.4%. In 2005, he reached the play-offs again with the Red Sox, but they lost to the Chicago White Sox in the American League Divisional Series.

At the end of 2005, Damon signed a four-year contract with the New York Yankees, which was worth $52 million, and it’s known that this contract increased the net worth of Johnny Damon the most. He played in the New York Yankees team until 2009, and notably he became the World Series champion in the team for the second time in 2009. The same year he received TYIB Award for the Best Post-season Moment.

Later, Damon represented the team of the Detroit Tigers in 2010, Tampa Bay Rays in 2011 and Cleveland Indians in 2012. From 2013 to 2015 he hoped to be signed as a free agent, but so far there has been no result in this regard.

Finally, in the personal life of the sportsman, he married Angela Vannice, the high school sweetheart in 1992, and the two had twins but they divorced in 2002. After two years Johnny married again, and to date, he have five children with his second wife, Michelle Mangan. They reside in Windermere, Florida.
