Jonathan Dwight Jones was born on 19 July 1987, in Rochester, New York State, USA, and is a professional mixed martial arts fighter, best known as a part of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He holds the longest active winning streak in the UFC, and is a two time Light Heavyweight Champion. Jon attended Union-Endicott High School, and during his time there came to attention as a champion state wrestler. He also played football during this time and earned the nickname “Bones”. After matriculating, he attended Iowa Central Community College, winning a national JUCO championship. He then transferred to Morrisvale State College but dropped out to pursue his MMA career. In 2008, he made his professional debut and SET an undefeated record of 6-0 before signing with UFC.
Jones first fight in UFC was at “UFC 87” against Tomasz Drwal, and he took a unanimous decision victory. He then tied Chuck Liddell’s number of title defenses, winning against Vitor Belfort before joining the 17th season of “Ultimate Fighter”. He then defeated Chael Sonnen to tie for most consecutive title defenses with Tito Ortiz.
