Jonathan grew up in his hometown and went to McPherson High School, where he played basketball and led his team to two state championships, before he matriculated and enrolled at McPherson College. There, he expanded his interests to theatre, and working as a sports editor on the school newspaper, and was also a play-by-play and color commentator for the local basketball and football teams. After college, he became a sports reporter, and anchor for KAKE, based in Wichita, Kansas, and also worked for KMBC-TV, based in Kansas City; all a good basis to his net worth.
Jonathan first joined World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in 1999, working as an interviewer, commentator and presenter. He also had screen time with wrestler The Rock, in which The Rock tried to humiliate Jonathan in every way possible.

However, that didn’t last long as William Regal was appointed as new General Manager of Raw in August that year, and as a result, Jonathan became his assistant. In 2008, his contract expired and decided not to renew it. Nevertheless, he eventually returned to WWE in March 2016, and since then has been a part of the Wrestling industry.
Following his departure in 2008, he joined ESPN the next year and became anchor of SportsCenter.
