His song “Long Black Train” was part of his debut album and it helped raise his popularity. He’s had numerous hits and all of his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is today.
How rich is Josh Turner? As of mid-2016, sources inform us of a net worth that is at $17 million, mostly earned through a successful career in the music industry. He’s had a lot of successful songs and albums. He’s also tried his hand at an acting career, and as he continues with his endeavors it is expected that his wealth will increase.
Josh Turner Net Worth $17 million
Turner grew up attending church and during his youth founded Thankful Hearts, a gospel quartet in which he sang bass and baritone, and also became part of their church’s choir. In 1995, he developed a right vocal cord lesion which required him to rest his voice for a full year. During this time, he started learning classical vocal techniques, as well as learning ways to take care of his voice. After matriculating from high school, he attended Francis Marion University but later moved to Belmont University. He went to Nashville to pursue a music career and after graduating, made his debut on the Grand Ole Opry, performing the song “Long Black Train” which received a lot of acclaim, and no doubt boosted his net worth.
In 2003, he released the album of the same name, and it would spend more than 40 weeks on the Billboard country charts, being certified Gold and peaking in 13th spot. Three years later, he released his second album – “Your Man” – which also had a single of the same name, which climbed the charts and eventually reached the top spot, and was certified gold. Six month later it would certify Platinum, and his next song release “Would You Go With Me” got to the top of the charts once again, staying there for two weeks. Thanks to the success of the album, he was nominated for a Grammy for Best Male Country Vocal Performance and Best Country Album. He would continue to write and release several more songs that year.
In 2007, he became a member of the Grand Ole Opry, making him the second youngest member after to Carrie Underwood. He would release his third album “Everything is Fine” and the song “Firecracker” would hit the Top Ten of the country music charts; the album certified gold and he would then work on his fourth album “Haywire” which was released in 2009, from which the single “Haywire” would become his third number one hit, spending four weeks at the top – his fourth number one song entitled “All Over Me” was also from the same album. In 2012, he released “Punching Bag” and it finished the year as the top country song on Billboard. He is currently working on his next album entitled “Lay Low”, as his net worth continues to grow steadily.
Josh has also tried his hand at acting, appearing in the film “Billy: The Early Years” as George Beverly Shea; the film was about the evangelist Billy Graham.
For his personal life, Josh describes himself as a devout christian; he has been married to Jennifer Ford since 2003. They met at Belmont University and Jennifer often performs with Josh while he is on tour. The couple has four sons.
