Kevin spent his childhood in his hometown, and went to Gardena High School, where he was the student body president, while also serving as president of the District-Wide Association of Student Councils for the Los Angeles Unified School District, showing an interest in politics from an early age. After matriculation, he enrolled at Morehouse College, graduating with a degree in Political Science. He furthered his education by receiving a J.D degree from Southwestern Law School.
After education, Kevin entered the internship program at the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, and began representing victims of drug struck communities. While at Southwestern Law School, Kevin served as clerk for the judge David W. Williams, and after Williams`s incumbency as judge of the Inglewood Municipal Court, Kevin became a part of the California Bench, and the youngest judge in the state of California. The next year he was brought to the Superior Court.
For the next seven years he served as a judge, and managed more than 60,000 cases ranging from small misdemeanors to sex crimes and murder. Thanks to his successful work, he was invited to work as legal correspondent and adviser for PBS. However, this brought bad fortune to Kevin, since he was stripped of his position because of comments he made on PBS and perceived conflict of interest.
His first media work had actually come years before he became judge, working for the 103.9 KACE radio station as the co-host of the show “The People’s Connection”, and later he got his own show on Disney’s KTZN 710 , called “The Zone”. Furthermore, he was also the producer and host of the weekend show aired on Talkradio 790 KABC, but after some time left to focus on his career as a judge.
Kevin returned to media after his judicial career came to an end; he started a communication company, launching a blog and internet program “The Kevin Ross Show”, aired through Blogtalkradio. Furthermore, he met comedian Byron Allen at a business meeting in 2009, and the two made a deal to start a court show for the Entertainment Studios, and the following year, he became the host of the “America’s Court with Judge Ross”, which that same year was named as one of the best new programs on radio, which only increased his net worth.
Apart from his own show, he continued to work as a correspondent and adviser, making appearances on such shows and channels as Fox News, CNN, Tom Joyner Morning Show, Black Entertainment Television, NPR, and MSNBC, among others, adding a considerable amount to his net worth.
Regarding his personal life, little is known about his private life, but he is married to Lore and they have two children.
