Julie Goodyear, MBE (born Julie Kemp, 29 March 1942) is an English television actress and media personality. She is best known for playing pub landlady Bet Lynch (later Bet Gilroy) on British soap opera Coronation Street.Goodyear first appeared as Bet Lynch for nine episodes in 1966, before becoming a series regular for twenty-five years from 1970 to 1995. She briefly returned for eight episodes in 2002 and another seven in 2003. For her role on Coronation Street, she received the Special Recognition Award at the 1995 National Television Awards. She was made an MBE in the 1996 New Year Honours.
Her first husband Ray Sutcliffe walked out on her and their son within a year of their marriage and moved to Australia; she filed for divorce on the grounds of desertion in 1963.

Her beloved maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Ann Duckworth, died of suspected suicide when she was found drowned in a canal (1955).

Lived at The Bay Horse, a pub her mother and stepfather ran, working as a barmaid (1955-1968).

Married longtime boyfriend Scott Brand in an intimate ceremony. The reception was attended by the Duchess of York, Charlotte Church, Clive Owen and members of Duran Duran. The bride is 65; the groom is 39.

Lives at Primrose Hill Farm and is a member of the National Farmer's Union.
