Prior to becoming a reality star, Junior was a wrestler, participating in Super Brawl – Future Brawl 4 in 1996, losing to Jay R. Palmer in one round. Edwards joined the cast of ‘’Swamp People’’, a History Channel reality television show, in 2010. The show is focused on the lives of native southern Louisiana people who hunt alligators for a month around September each year; it is a part of many families’ heritage. The participants are divided into several teams, and each team has a quota of ‘’tags’’ to fill. The winning team in the one with the most tags by the end of the season.

Edwards starred in ‘’Swamp People’’ alongside Liz Cavalier and R. J. Molinere among others. He made his first appearance in the episode entitled ‘’Big Head Bites It’’, which originally aired on 22 August 2010. The first episode caught the attention of the audience, and subsequently ensured a large number of viewers since it  overall received a very positive response. During his career, he hunted with his son, Willie Edwards; the duo would often plan where to hunt and which equipment to use together. They would usually go on the same boat, although his son eventually separated from him. Junior spent most of the day hunting, and in addition he was willing to do things other participants didn’t. For example, he hand-threw hooks in order to catch loose alligators. In 2012, he and Willie caught the 12-foot-long gator, Big Bertha, one of the biggest to be landed.

However, once the hunting season is over, the contestants would return to other activities. As the only professional fisherman in the show, Junior would go fishing in order to provide his family with necessities.

In 2015, the rumors regarding the end of the show were spreading, and in 2016 Junior left the show, making his last appearance in the episode entitled ‘’All Hands on Deck’’on 22 February 2016, having appeared in a total of 98 episodes. At the time of Junior’s release from the show, there were rumors about him and Willie asking for more money to be in it, which Junior denied. After Junior left the show, Willie teamed up with his brother. ‘’Swamp People’’ received a Telly Award for TV Programs, Segments, or Promotional Pieces Film/ Video – Entertainment, potentially adding to Junior’s net worth along the way.

In his personal life, Junior is married to Theresa Edwards, and the couple has two sons – Randy and Willie Edwards, who are both involved in ‘gator hunting.
