I'm so pumped about joining 'Y&R' - I watch it all the time and can't wait to get in there and get my hands dirty!
On his co-stars from This Is Us (2016): It's interesting. Sometimes we'll only see each other in passing, like ships passing in the night. Like with Milo [Milo Ventimiglia], I see him coming and I see him going. I'm always so happy to see him. I try to talk to him as long as I can because he's fascinating to me - I love that dude - but we don't get any time together on camera. We're not spending the entire day together. But he'll arrange a dinner where we can all get together, which is nice. I work with Chrissy [Chrissy Metz] a lot. She's lovelier than you could possibly imagine. Sterling [K. Brown]'s amazing - all we do is laugh all day long - and Mandy ['Mandy Moore'] is the kindest spirit you will ever meet in your entire life. She's got this sort of light about her. She walks into a room and when she smiles, you look around and everyone is smiling and no one knows why-it's just because they're looking at Mandy smiling and it makes you smile. It's a bunch of great people. I've never worked with a cast that is this grounded and wonderful to be around.
I have a pretty close family and there are certain similarities-maybe a lot of families have this-where geographically, we're separated, and there are times when one family member will be needing a lot at one particular moment, so everyone rallies around that particular family member. Then there are other moments where, if [the family is] okay, I might not talk to my brother for two or three weeks, but then if I get him on the phone at five in the afternoon, it feels like we spoke that morning. That time gap between when you talk, when everyone's okay, it sort of disappears when you're talking. I think Kevin's family is sort of like that as well; some relationships are stronger than others at certain times. The way the show is written, it's so real. There are certain things that are obviously problems and should be topics of conversation that aren't.
One of the things I wanted to do was direct. There've been a couple of times that a director will walk up and say something to me, and all it does is make me mad. Inside I'll go, 'Well, that wasn't helpful at all.'
I have great respect for daytime drama. I love the branding. I love the style. What can I say? I love good soap!
It's all about story and character with me, and I don't care if the job is on daytime or prime time or the web. Hey, give me a good character and someone to listen, and I'll do my acting on a street corner.
I found a very comfortable style in that if I know everyone's job around me, it's going to make me better at my job.
If you sit and feel sorry for yourself, you're wasting your time. You should be in acting class, instead of feeling sorry for yourself. You should be working.
I know, who doesn't want to play a superhero, right? And everyone wants to play Superman or Batman. Everyone wants to play a superhero.
Any father can relate to feeling like a superhero when you put a Band-Aid on your kid.
I don't have a gardener because I enjoy pulling weeds. It's hard to explain but there is something fulfilling about pulling out a weed and knowing that you got all the roots.
