Speaking about her high school education, Walsh attended Catalina Magnet High School and then Rincon High School, then enrolled into the University of Arizona, and additionally studied acting at Chicago’s Piven Theatre Workshop. After that, she joined Burn Manhattan, a New York-based comedy troupe, but also worked as a waitress to support herself. Walsh made her acting debut with a role in ‘‘Normal Life’’, in which she played Cindy Anderson in 1996, and had several more projects during that year, most importantly playing Cricket in ‘‘Henry II: Portrait of a Serial Killer’’, a crime horror movie. In 1997 through 2001 Walsh was cast to play Nicki Fifer / Nicki Fifer Carey in ‘‘The Drew Carey Show’’, and left it having appeared in its 21 episodes. In 2003, Kate joined the cast of an Oscar nominated comedy romance film, ‘‘Under The Tuscan Sun’’, and in the next year played Mimosa in an episode of ‘‘CSI: Crime Scene Investigation’’, a worldwide popular television series, steadily raising her net worth.

Walsh then had several support roles in movies, such as ‘‘Inside Out’’ and ‘‘Bewitched’’, before in 1995 she began portraying Dr. Addison Montgomery in ‘‘Grey’s Anatomy’’, a worldwide appraised television series which follows the professional and private lives of a group of medical workers; the series achieved vast success, and was rewarded with two Golden Globes an impressive 67 other awards, in addition to being nominated for 206 more. Being in such a prominent project had great significance for Kate’s career as well as her net worth, and she certainly gained more attention from the media during the seven years she remained in the show.

In the meantime, she had other projects as well – in 2007, she was cast to play Nemesii, one of the main characters in ‘‘Veritas, Prince of Truth’’, working side by side with Sean Patrick Flanery and Bret Loehr, and the same year had one more prominent project, playing the role of Dr. Addison Forbes Montgomery, the main character in ‘‘Private Practice’’, which eventually aired for six seasons, and ended in 2013. The series was rewarded with BMI TV Music Award, Image Award and Prism Award, among others. In 2014, she had an important role in ‘‘Just Before I Go’’, a comedy drama movie in which she collaborated with actors such as Sean William Scott and Olivia Thirlby, and in the same year she starred as Rebecca Wright in ‘‘Bad Judge’’.

When it comes to Walsh’s latest projects, she portrayed Olivia Baker in ‘‘13 Reasons Why’’, one of the most controversial series of 2017,which follows the story of a girl who commits suicide, after being sexually harassed – however, it was nominated for a Golden Globe Award.

1I drink tons of water. When you're puffy, you think you can't drink water since you feel more bloated and gross but that's what you do to get the toxins out of your system. I put a little lemon in the water bottle that I carry around with me or drink a cup of hot water with lemon. It's a natural diuretic.
2No matter what job you do, we all have a much different life than our parents had. My parents' generation had one job and then they retired. Now, people have many different jobs.
3I've done every diet there is.
4My mom, she's a breast cancer survivor and because of that I had started getting mammograms once a year, starting at age 30.
5Age is just a number. Unless, that is, you live in Hollywood, where there's this notion that if you haven't hit it big by your 20s, you may as well hit the road.
6People always say you can't do a red lip if you have red hair but I've never shied away from it. I think you can absolutely do that. It's more about hair colour and complexion.
7For me, my 20s were all about reaching for the brass ring of work in theater, television, and film, surviving in between by waiting tables, painting houses, serving coffee, and temping.
8I used to skip breakfast, but eating gets my metabolism going, so I burn more calories all day.
9I would definitely love to be a parent.
10I'm lucky. I've got pretty good genes.
11I'm not a clean freak. My house is a mess.
12I'm stronger and sassier as a redhead.
13I don't think anyone gets married thinking that they will get divorced.
14I have always been the girl who keeps on trying. I try! I try!
15I loved campaigning for Obama.
16I struggle with control.
17I try to cook dinner, but it's difficult when I'm working.
18I like to eat right and in moderation, but give myself treats and kind of have everything.
19I do Pilates, and hike with my dog.
20I still like to make crank calls.
21Acting was all I ever really wanted to do.
22I don't like to take a lot of stuff since I'm really sensitive to medications.
23Sometimes I hope that through osmosis I might get a workout - just by wearing the clothes.
24I think a lot of people just aren't aware how young you can be and be diagnosed with breast cancer.
25There are lots of different ways for women to be a mom in this culture.
26You never want to rest on your laurels. You want to keep doing things that terrify you.
27My very first job was a cashier at Burger King in Tucson, Arizona. And I occasionally worked the drive-thru. I'd go wherever I was needed! My second job was at Dairy Queen. I stayed in the fast food royalty.
28I don't need someone with a hot body. He can be fat or overweight and have a belly. It's very much about style and substance and humor, interest, curiosity and really being smart.
29My mother is Italian and my dad's Irish. In my family, we're expressive. Nobody holds back.
30I second-guess myself all the time. I make a decision and then wonder if I made the wrong choice.
31I've got four roommates and they all have fur and tails.
32I've learned over and over that life happens on its own terms, not mine.
1[December 2008] Announced that she had filed for divorce from her husband Alex Young after only 15 months of marriage. She cited irreconcilable differences as the reason.
2[May 16, 2007] Engaged to Alex Young. Proposed in San Francisco.
3Has a brother, to whom she is very close.
4Has two dogs and two cats. Her dogs are named Lou Diamond Phillips and Rosie Perez after the actor and actress of the same name.
5First leading role was with co-star Wes Bentley in the New York Indy production of Three Below Zero (1998), which won the Max Ophüls award 1999 fort best picture in Germany.
6Ranked #52 on the Maxim magazine Hot 100 of 2007 list.
7Married to Alex Young, a production co-president at 20th Century Fox [September 1, 2007].
8Attended Catalina High school in Tucson, Arizona.
9Good friend of Jamie Denbo, Sara Morris, Cynthia True, Sally Ann Brooks and Corinne Kingsbury.
10Wore glasses as a child.
11Her mother is Italian and her father is Irish.
12The film, The Sweetest Thing (2002), was written by Kate's best friend, Nancy Pimental. The film's female characters were based on Nancy and Kate. Also, Kate can be seen on the DVD's special features.
13Portrayed the girlfriend of her future Grey's Anatomy (2005) cast mate, Sandra Oh, in Under the Tuscan Sun (2003). Coincidentally, her character in the film was also a doctor.
14Was a runway model in Japan during the early 1980s.
15Often compared to Catherine Deneuve, an icon of French cinema. So much so that it was written into an episode of Grey's Anatomy (2005) where a patient's husband becomes fascinated with Walsh's character because of the resemblance.
16Grew up in San Jose, California and Tucson, Arizona.
17Wore a fat suit in her role as Nicki Fifer on The Drew Carey Show (1995).
18Attended University of Arizona.
