To begin with, he was educated at Eleanor Roosevelt High School in which he was a part of the music band Maryland. Later, he graduated from Howard University in Washington DC, and while still a university student, he joined the group Maniquin as the leading vocalist in 1987. In 1989, they released an eponymous album under the same name “Maniquin” which did not achieve the expected success. Kenny left the group in 1990.

Subsequently, collaboration with other artists like Glenn Jones, Jon Lucien, Dem Twinzz was successful, but Kenny wanted to sing solo. It was in 1993 when he decided to go to New York, and after a few months he recorded a demo of some songs he co-wrote with J. Dibbs, and signed a contract with Columbia Records. As a result, his first, self-titled solo album was launched in 1996 with the collaboration of big names like Barry Eastmond, Kenneth and Keith Crouch as well as Dave Hall; the album topped the Billboard of Heatseekers and was certified gold in USA. In 1998, he released his second studio album, “From the Soul of Man”, and in 2001 another entitled “Weekend”, with the albums respectively taking 15th and 25th positions on the Billboard R&B chart. His net worth was rising steadily.

Then Kenny decided to change, and released an album with his wife, Chanté Moore “Things That Lovers Do” (2003) which was very successful, peaking in 3rd position on the Billboard R&B as well as achieving gold certification. In 2004, Lattimore alongside his wife recorded a compilation album of their best songs, and returned with a new album entitled “Uncovered / Covered” in 2006. The above mentioned album took 2nd position on the Billboard Gospel and 10th on the Billboard R&B charts. This was followed by another studio album “Timeless” (2008) peaking in 6th position on the Billboard R&B. In 2015, Kenny Lattimore signed to the eOne Music label and released “Anatomy Of A Love Song”, yet it was not as successful as expected, reaching only 14th position on Billboard R&B. Overall, all the above mentioned albums have increased the total size of Kenny Lattimore.

Finally, in the personal life of the R&B singer, he married the singer Chante Moore in 2002, and they have a son named after his father, Kenny Lattimore Jr. In 2011, Lattimore announced their divorce, and currently Kenny claims to be single.
