Kevin Pearce is the youngest of Simon and Pia Pearce’s four sons. He began his career in 2006, participating in some competitions on the main circuit, the Ticket to Ride (TTR), World Snowboard Tour; his best result was a 5th place. He won his first professional tournament in slope style at the Burton New Zealand Open, and at the beginning of 2007, he won the Arctic challenge. However, a poor performance at the Burton USA Open at the end of the season saw him finish in 4th place on the TTR World Tour. He returned to the podium at the opening of the 2007 – 2008 season, when he finished 2nd in the halfpipe of the Abominable Snow Jam in Oregon. A week later, he finished fourth at the Nissan X-Trail Jam in Japan, then in the finals of the Halfpipe Burton European Open, he overtook Shaun White to win. Pearce again dominated in competition at the Billabong Air & Style in Innsbruck and the Arctic challenge, and as a result of this victory, he took the lead in the TTR championship.

In addition, Kevin also won three medals at the Winter X Games XII in Aspen, Colorado in 2008. The same year, he participated in three medal events in a single day, the first athlete in X Games history to do so. He won a silver medal in the 2009 Winter X Games, losing by a point against Shaun White, and then he won the Burton European Open in 2008 and 2009. It is worth mentioning the fact that Kevin Pearce and Shaun White were the only snowboarders to enjoy support fully paid by their sponsors with a value of $2 million for the Vancouver Olympics in 2010.

On the 31st December 2009, Kevin Pearce was critically injured training at Park City; while he attempted to complete a routine, he fell badly on the head, suffering from multiple facial fractures and remaining in a coma for nearly a week in the Medical University of Utah Center Salt Lake City. Upon awakening, the verdict was without appeal: part of his brain was damaged, and visual acuity as well as memory were affected. Despite convincing progress, doctors knew that Kevin would not be able to continue his career. Six months after his accident, Kevin returned in Vermont with his family to continue his rehabilitation. A documentary on the history of Kevin Pearce was released in 2013, entitled “The Crash Reel – The Ride of a Lifetime”. The film speaks of the sports preparations for the Winter Olympics 2010, the 2009 accident and rehabilitation that Kevin had to follow thereafter.

Finally, in the personal life of the snowboarder, Kevin is single. He currently lives in Carlsbad, California.
