Growing up, Richardson was the youngest of three sons to parents Jerald Wayne and Ann. He discovered his love for performing during his high school years in Estill County High School, performing in plays like “Bye, Bye Birdie”. After graduating, Richardson worked in Disney World where he conducted backstage tours, and played characters such as Aladdin and one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

In 1993, Richardson was included in the boy band Backstreet Boys, joining with fellow members Nick Carter, AJ McLean, Howie Dorough and cousin Brian Littrell, whom he asked to audition. The five started playing in various venues in the United States, in shopping malls and even schools. The Boys finally secured a record deal and released their first self-titled album in 1996. The following year, the group released their second album “Backstreet’s Back”, and the two albums sold a total of 28 million copies worldwide. The group’s success went to super-stardom with their 3rd album “Millennium”. Released in 1999, it also became the best-selling album of that year. In 2000, the band released its follow-up album “Black & Blue” and in 2005, after a two-year hiatus, they released their fifth album “Never Gone”. Kevin’s net worth was growing nicely.

After a successful run with the band achieving worldwide success, from back to back hits to non-stop touring, Richardson decided to part ways with the band in 2006 to pursue his other interests. While on this break from his musical career, Richardson ventured into his other passion, which is acting. He had played the role of Billy Flynn in the Broadway production of “Chicago” in 2003, and now he also toured with the cast in Toronto and Japan in 2007 and 2009, adding to his net worth.

Richardson also appeared in a couple of movies; in 2009 he starred in “Love Takes Wing”, in 2010 he joined the cast of “The Bloody Indulgent” and “The Casserole Club”, for which he won the Independent Vision Award for Best Actor award at Vision Fest in New York in 2011. Some of his other projects are “Arthur”, “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” and “This is the End”. All contributed to his net worth.

Even though he is officially not part of the Backstreet Boys any longer, Richardson occasionally performs with the band and participates in a couple appearances, but in 2012 he officially announced in an interview that he is returning to the group.

In his personal life, Richardson met her wife Kristin Kay Willits while working at Disney World in 1993. The two married in 2000, and seven years later they welcomed their first born Mason Frey, and in 2013 their second child, Maxwell Haze.
