Kevin is of Taiwanese ancestry – his father, Michael Wu, is a Taiwanese immigrant. Kevin went to Clements High School, from which he matriculated in 2008, then enrolled at the University of California, Davis, but never finished his degree.

Starting in 2006, Kevin opened his YouTube channel, and posted his first video entitled “I Have to Deal With Stereotypes”. His videos started becoming more popular, which only encouraged him to continue, and after another successful video, he collaborated with YouTube comedian Christine Gambito, known also as Happy Slip. The two made five videos together, which only further increased Kevin’s popularity, and established his net worth.

Kevin then made a video with his father – known on YouTube as PapaJumba. This brought stardom to Kevin as his numbers grew at an amazing speed, reaching three million subscribers and more than 350 million combined views on the videos. In 2010 he started the web series “Funemployed”, with several other YouTubers, including Nigahiga, Kina Grannis, Chester See, and David Choi. The series follows a group of friends and their dealing with the reality of being unemployed. The series became one more of Kevin’s successful ventures, but he put an end to it in July 2010, with the last episode, entitled “Gave it a Shot”. The series comprised eleven episodes, made from 30 sitcoms.

In 2013 Kevin stopped his YouTube channel, and did not return until March 2017. Most recently, he posted a new video, entitled “Hope”. During that time he spent away from YouTube, Kevin practiced meditation, and finished his studies.

Apart from YouTube, Kevin has had success as actor; back in 2008 he appeared in “Hooking Up”, with Jessica Rose, and Phillip DeFranco, and built-up from there, appearing in the films “Hang Lose” (2012), “Rock Jocks” (2012), and “Revenge of the Green Dragons” (2014), which also improved his net worth. Most recently, he appeared in the comedy “Man Up” (2015), starring Dion Basco, Gerry Bedno and Nichole Bloom.

Regarding his personal life, there are no records online about Kevin’s love life as he tends to keep his most intimate details hidden from the public eye.

Kevin is a well-known philanthropist; he started the YouTube channel JumbaFund, through which he donates all his earnings to organizations chosen by his subscribers.

Also, he has visited Lenana, Kenya in a campaign organized by The Supply. There, he met with the children who will attend a new secondary school, built with the help of Kevin’s funding, and named Jumba Lenana Academy.
