A year later, she was cast in “Malcolm X”, a biographical film about the activist of the same name, portrayed by Denzel Washington. In 1993, Richardson had a part of “Sleepless in Seattle” which starred Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, a critical and commercial success helping LaTanya’s net worth rise. The following year, she appeared in “When A Man Loves a Woman”, before being cast in “Losing Isaiah”. In 1996, she had a role in “Lone Star” which is a mystery film. In 2017, Richardson was cast in the BET police drama series “Rebel”, about an Oakland police officer who began working as a private investigator after her brother was killed by the police.
