Laura is the daughter of Rose and Alister Fraser; her father influenced Laura a lot since he was a screenwriter. She went to Hillhead High School and after matriculation enrolled at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, and honed her skills in the Scottish Youth Theatre.

Her career started in 199,5 with a role in the short film “Good Day for the Bad Guys”, followed by a supporting role in the drama film “Small Faces” (1996), starring Iain Robertson, Joe McFadden and Steven Duffy. The same year she portrayed Door in the TV fantasy series “Neverwhere”, which immediately launched her to stardom, thanks to her acclaimed performance. In 1998 she starred in the drama film “Left Luggage”, alongside Adam Monty and Isabella Rossellini, which only increased her net worth. By the end of the ‘90s, Laura had several more successful roles, including as Mariette in the romantic comedy film “Cousin Bette” in 1998, and the lead role in the romantic comedy film “Virtual Sexuality” in 1999. She also appeared in the Academy Award-nominated thriller drama “Titus”, starring Anthony Hopkins, Jessica Lange and Osheen Jones.

She started the new millennium with the female lead in the television film “Forgive and Forget”, starring next to John Simm and Steve John Shepherd, while in 2001 she featured in the action adventure film “A Knight’s Tale”, which only further increased her net worth. The same year, she had a minor role in the fantasy romance film “Vanilla Sky”, which featured Tom Cruise and Penelope Cruz in the lead roles, and later starred in the crime-drama film “16 Years of Alcohol”, while in 2004 she featured in the Golden Globe award-winning drama film “Iron Jawed Angels”, starring Anjelica Huston, Hilary Swank and Margo Martindale, which added a significant amount to her net worth, thanks to the success of the film, both critical and commercial.

In 2006 Laura had another memorable role, as Anne Obree in the biopic about Graeme Obree, portrayed by Johnny Lee Miller entitled “The Flying Scotsman”. She then appeared in several unsuccessful projects, but in 2014 reinstated her success with the role of Margaret Watson Watt in the drama film “Castles in the Sky”, starring next to Eddie Izzard and Arran Tulloch. Two years later, Laura starred in the highly-acclaimed horror thriller film “I Am Not a Serial Killer”, next to Christopher Lloyd and Max Records, and the same year also portrayed Eve Stone in the Golden Globe Award-nominated TV series “The Missing”, while most recently she played Detective Sergeant Annie Redford in the TV crime drama mini-series “The Loch” (2017), and is now working on the film “Beats”, scheduled for release late in 2018.

When it comes to her personal life, Laura has been married to actor Karl Geary since 2003; the couple has a daughter together.

#Quote
1[on being a late newcomer to the cast of 'Breaking Bad'] It was kind of like being the new kid at school - and also like gate-crashing an amazing party that's in full swing. You feel lucky to be there but you're not sure that you fit in.
2[on her role as 'Lydia'] I didn't know how demented she was in the beginning. She seems to vibrate at a very high-pitched frequency - constantly in a fight-or- flight mode, you know? I feel like she's gone from being rather cold to completely glacial. She's almost like a little Nazi in these last episodes.
#Fact
1Good friends with David Tennant.
2Lives in Glasgow, Scotland.
3She was initially cast as Jessica Brody in the pilot of 'Homeland' but was later replaced by Morena Baccarin.
4Her accent as Lydia on 'Breaking Bad' was so convincing that many of her co-stars had no idea that she wasn't really American.
5Gave birth to her 1st child at age 29, a daughter Lila Geary in May 2006. Child's father is her husband, Karl Geary.
