Laurence Fishburne Wiki Biography

Laurence Fishburne is also known as Laurence J. Fishburne III, Larry Fishburne, Fish, Lawrence Fishburne and as simple as Larry. Fishburne nowadays is considered to be one of the greatest film producers, actors, voice actors and film directors who has estimated net worth as high as $20 million. He appeared as Maron Bishop in “Assault on Precinct 13”, also as Dr. Larabee in “Akeelah and the Bee”, Iason “Furious” Styles in “Boyz n the Hood”, Captain Miller in “Event Horizon”, and as Piper in “Fled”.

Nowadays he is considered to be one of the richest show business personalities in the US.

Laurence Fishburne Net Worth $20 Million

Laurence John Fishburne III was born on July 30, 1961, in Augusta, Georgia, United States. He was raised in an ordinary family – his mother was a school teacher, while his father was a corrections officer working with young people. However, his parents divorced in his early childhood, and that’s when he moved to Brooklyn, New York, where he spent the rest of his childhood. Fishburne made the first step into the building of his future net worth  at the age of 12, when he acted in the “Mod Squad”. Actually as a child he had many opportunities to get some experience in acting – he appeared in “Cornbread, Earl and Me”, the “One Life to Live” soap opera, and “Apocalypse Now”. In order to act in the last one, Lawrence had to lie about his age to appear older!

Of course, these small roles during his childhood couldn’t build up a great  net worth for Fishburne, but then he was ready to work hard and participate in many other projects. A big investment in Larry’s net worth occurred when he accepted the role as a narrator in the famous Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series. Later he made many other appearances. For example, Laurence had an opportunity to raise his net worth while filming in “What’s Love Got to Do with It” directed by Brian Gibson in 1993, where he appeared together with Angela Bassett , Khandi Alexander, Chi McBride and other celebrities.

For his great roles as an outstanding or supporting actor, Fishburne has been nominated numerous times for many different awards . Fishburne won his first award for filming  in 2006 – it was a Black Movie Award received for “Akeelah and the Bee” for his Outstanding Performance in a Supporting Role. He has also been the winner of some theatrical awards; for example, thanks to playing in “Without Walls” in 2007 he received the NAACP Theatre Award as the Best Male Lead – Equity.

Today Laurence Fishburne’s net worth continues to grow fast. The famous actor lives in Hollywood together with his second wife Gina Torres and their child born in 2007. He was divorced from his first wife Hajna Fishburne  in 1990 after five years of living together with two children.

So now you know how rich Laurence Fishburne III is.

1I don't believe in acting teachers for me.
2It's funny, a lot of people think I take myself seriously because I come off so serious sometimes. But it's not that I take myself seriously, I take what I do seriously. I came up around people who took acting seriously, who cared about acting, cared about the theater and, in the '70s, made movies that said something that mattered. I came up with those people, and I was a kid. Their ethos and credo became mine.
3I play characters. I don't think I really have a persona per se. I don't play the same guy every time. I show up, you don't know what I'm gonna do. I like it that way. I've intentionally tried to do it that way. I think that's what's interesting.
4[on why he didn't read the complete play of "Othello" before acting in the film version in which more than half of the dialogue was cut:] "Why should I read all those words that I'm not going to get to say?"
5I've played a lot of bad guys, 'cause that was the only work I could get. People saw my face and went 'oooh'.
6For the last six months people have been coming up to me and saying, 'I loved you in Pulp Fiction, Mr. Jackson.'" [1996]
1He is left-handed.
2He was awarded the 1992 Drama-Logue Award for Perfornance for "Two Trains Running" in the 25th Anniversary Season presented by Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson at the James A. Doolittle Theatre (University of California) in Los Angeles, California.
3He was awarded the 1992 Antoniette Perry (Tony) Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play for "Two Trains Running" on Broadway in New York City.
4Like fellow actor Paul Reubens, Fishburne is also a very private person.
5Portrayed Cuba Gooding Jr.'s father in Boyz n the Hood (1991) even though he's only 6 years older than him, and Anthony Anderson's father in Black-ish (2014) even though he's only 9 years older than him.
6Starring in "Without Walls", a play by Alfred Uhry ("Driving Miss Daisy"), at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles. [June 2006]
7Son, Langston Fishburne, recently graduated from Thorton-Donovan private school in New Rochelle and will attend Boston University in the fall. [June 2005]
8Starred as "Troy Maxson", with Angela Bassett, Wendell Pierce, and Orlando Jones, in a production of August Wilson's play, "Fences", at the Pasadena Playhouse. [August 2006]
9Currently resides in New Rochelle, New York [June 2005]
10Has been in two movies where he has had the line "Welcome to the real world." The movies are Higher Learning (1995) and The Matrix (1999).
11He has played the same character (Dr. Raymond Langston) on three different series: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (2000), CSI: Miami (2002) and CSI: NY (2004).
12He is the first African-American actor to play the role of Perry White, newspaper editor and employer of Superman's alter ego, Clark Kent.
13Laurence Fishburne's daughter, Montana Fishburne, is an adult film actress. Her stage name is "Chippy D".
14Lives in Los Angeles, California.
15Was 14 years old when he was cast in Francis Ford Coppola's Apocalypse Now (1979); he had celebrated his 15th and 16th birthdays during the making of the film. Saved Emilio Estevez from being sucked under by quicksand, while they were relaxing off the set.
16Nominated for the 2007 Tony Award (New York City) for Actor in a Drama for "Thurgood".
17"Ray Langston", his character on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (2000), is taken from the name of his oldest son.
18Daughter, Delilah, born June 2007.
19Attended the 2006 Dubai International Film Festival in the United Arab Emirates.
20Appeared with Martin Sheen in Apocalypse Now (1979), Cadence (1990), and Bobby (2006). He also worked with Charlie Sheen in Cadence (1990) and Emilio Estevez in Bobby (2006).
21According to the commentary track on the Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005) DVD, Fishburne provided the voice of the bear in the Genaros Beer commercial.

31Won Broadway's 1992 Tony Award as Best Actor (Featured Role - Play) for August Wilson's "Two Trains Running."
32In Event Horizon (1997) the space suits worn by the actors weighed 65 pounds each. He nicknamed his Doris.
33Studied acting at the Lincoln Square Academy in New York.
34Engaged to Gina Torres. [2001]
35He changed his name from Larry to Laurence in his films in 1991.
