Born Lee John Westwood on the 24th April 1973, in Worksop, Nothinghamshire, England, he is a professional golfer who spent 22 weeks as the No. 1 golf player on the Official World Golf Ranking, and has won a total of 42 events on five different continents, however, a major title still eludes him. His career has been active since 1993.

Although he started to play golf a bit later than his peers, two years into competing he won the junior championship of Nottinghamshire, while in 1990 he won the Peter McEvoy Trophy, his first amateur tournament. Three years into his professional career, Lee won his first event, at the Volvo Scandinavian Masters, while soon enough came the second title, at the Sumitomo VISA Taiheiyo Masters, held in Japan.

Lee also participated in 10 Ryder Cup winning seven times with the European team against the US.

Regarding his personal life, Lee was married to Laurae Coltart , who is a sister of Scottish golfer Andrew Coltart, from 1999 until 2015; the couple has two children together. He is now based in Jesmond, Newcastle upon Tyne, ERngland.

Lee is an honorable graduate of Nottingham Trent University, receiving Doctor of Science degree in 2007, and the university’s sports hall bears Lee’s name.
