Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Clarke attended the University of Massachusetts and immediately became a stand-up comedian. His career in being a comic began when he would usually perform in bars and saloons. He also used to host open-mic nights in the area, and eventually emerged as one of the best comics on the Boston comedy scene.

With the success he received as a stand-up comedian, Clarke later on dived into the world of television, and starred in “Lenny Clarke’s Late Show” which he also wrote along Martin Olson. He also starred in his own sitcom entitled “Lenny” in 1990, but proved to be short-lived. Despite the fate of “Lenny”, Clarke continued to appear in various shows such as “The Job”, “Contest Searchlight”, “The John Larroquette Show” and “It’s All Relative”. His early years in television certainly helped to set-up his career and also his net worth.

Aside from his growing career in television, Clarke was also appearing more and more in movies in the ‘90s. Some of his film appearances included “Monument Ave.”, “Southie”, and “Me Myself & Irene”. In the early 2000’s he also appeared in “Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events” and “Fever Pitch”, adding steadily to his net worth.

In 2004, Clarke catapulted to fame when he starred in the FX comedy-drama series “Rescue Me”. His character as Uncle Teddy won the viewers hearts, and the series proved so popular that he played the character until 2011.

In 2006, Clarke also appeared in the documentary “When Stand-up Stood Out”, in which he shared commentaries on his early years in the comedy world, and his friendship with other comedians. His various projects and appearances all helped his career and his net wealth.

Today, Clarke is still active in Hollywood. Some of his latest appearances include the show “Brothers” and “Are You There, Chelsea”. From time to time he also guests on the WEEI radio shows in Boston. His most recent appearance includes the movie “Ted 2” and “Ghostbusters”. All told, Lenny has appeared in almost 30 films on the big screen, and over 20 TV productions, plus some activity as a writer/producer.

In terms of his personal life, Clarke has been married to Jennifer Miller since 1996.
