Lisa Stansfield Net Worth $15 Million
At the age of eleven, she moved with her family to the town of Rochdale in Greater Manchester. Since she was little, Lisa used to sing around the house. Her first experience with an unfamiliar audience was at the age of 14 when she attended a talent show on a local TV, and won in the singing category.
At the age of 17, she formed her first band, Blue Zone, with school mates Andy Morris and Ian Devaney. They composed some songs and recorded a demo to take to the region’s record labels. Rockin’ Horse Records, a small label of indie music, liked and recorded the single “On Fire” (1988), but an accident burned the records and they returned to the studio to record another single, “Thinking About This Baby” (1988), with the song “Big Thing” on the B side. Radio started playing them, and they spread through the clubs, which helped the single sell 10,000 copies in a week. With the sexy voice and music in her soul, Lisa soon began to attract attention, and Artist Records decided to hire her; Andy and Ian became her instrumentalists, composers and producers. Her debut album “Affection” (1989) sold 4.5 million copies, one of the reasons was that the song “All Around the World” topped the charts in 1989 and also won awards, such as the Best Song and the Best Breakthrough Artist in the Brit Awards. In 1990, Lisa participated in the recording “Down In The Depths” by Cole Porter with the goal of raising funds for AIDS cure research.
At the beginning of 1991, she was in Rock In Rio, in which she performed for about 150,000 people, then during the rest of the year, she dedicated herself to the production of a new album. “Real Love” was released in late 1991, and managed to put four songs into the charts. The next release “So Natural” (1993) was also successful, but only in England. She spent a long time away from the studio, until she returned full force in 1997, when she released the self-titled album. In 1998, she made her film debut in the movie “Swing”, which tells the story of a jazz band; she is one of the protagonists, but the film was not successful. The soundtrack, however, sung by Lisa, drew attention. The next year, the new album “Face Up”, which is pure soul, was on the shelves. Lisa also earned a label as a romantic singer, since part of her compositions were made with her husband and musician, who was always present in Lisa’s life and career, Ian Devaney. The singer stayed a while in the late 1990s, but in 2003 returned to win new fans. She released the album “Biography” with 17 career hits. In 2005, she won the Women’s World Award in the art category. In the middle of 2016, she collaborated as a songwriter on one of the tracks on the first album by Spanish singer Dina Arriaza.
Finally, in the personal life of the singer, she has been married to Ian Devaney since 1998. Prior to that, she was married to Italian designer Augusto Grassi, apparently for just a couple of months in 1987.
