Luke Evans Wiki Biography

Born Luke George Evans on the 15th April 1979, in Pontypool, Gwent, Wales, he is an award-winning stage, television and film actor, possibly best known to the world for his roles in such plays as “Piaf” and “Miss Saigon”, while on-screen he is recognized as Owen Shaw in the film “Fast & Furious 6” and its sequels, then as Vlad Dracula in the film “Dracula Untold”, among many other differing appearances.

Have you ever wondered how rich Luke Evans is, as of early 2018? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Evans’ net worth is as high as $6 million, an amount earned through his successful career in the world of entertainment, active since the early 2000s.

The only child born to David Evans and his wife Yvonne, he was raised under the strong influence of Jehovah’s Witness teachings, however, once he turned 16, Luke left both school and religion, and the following year moved to Cardiff. While there, he studied to become a singer under the guidance of Louise Ryan, but all his plans changed once he was accepted into the London Studio Centre in Kings Cross, London in 1997.

Three years later he graduated, and started searching for his first engagement. He joined London’s West End theater, and appeared in a number of productions in the next ten years, including “Taboo”, “Miss Saigon”, “Avenue Q”, “La Cava”, and others, with his most prominent stage role coming in 2008 as Vincent in the play “Small Change”, for which he was nominated for the Evening Standard Award for Best Newcomer. His net worth was well established.

Two years later, Luke made his credited screen debut with the role of Appolo, the Greek god in the film “Clash of the Titans”, starring Liam Neeson, Sam Worthington and Ralph Fiennes, which became an instant hit with the worldwide box office takings of over $500 million, and adding a significant amount to Luke’s net worth. The same year, Luke also played Clive Richards in the biopic about Ian Dury entitled “Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll”. Looking to build on the success of his first two feature films, Luke portrayed Aramis in the action adventure film “The Three Musketeers”, directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, and starring Logan Lerman, Matthew Macfadyen and Ray Stevenson. The same year he portrayed another Greek god, this time it was Zeus in the action fantasy “Immortals”, with Henry Cavill, Mickey Rourke and John Hurt as the stars, which grossed over $225 million worldwide, which helped add a significant amount to his net worth. Soon after the “Immortals”, Luke started working on another high-production film, “The Raven”, inspired by the works of Edgar Allan Poe, one of the most prominent authors of 19th century America, playing Detective Emmett Fields, next to John Cusack and Alice Eve, further increasing his net worth.

Subsequently Evans, now an accomplished on-screen actor, got the part of Owen Shaw, the lead antagonist in the new installment of the “Fast & Furious” franchise, released in 2013, and repeated the role in the sequels “Furious 7” (2015), and “Fate of the Furious” (2017). Also in 2013, he played Bard in the second part of the fantasy adventure “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug”, a role he repeated in the third and final film “The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies” (2014), and later that year portrayed Vlad Dracula in the film “Dracula Untold”, his first main starring role, all of which helped increase his net worth by a large margin.

In recent years, Luke appeared in the thriller film “The Girl on the Train” (2016) and played Gaston in the live-action adaptation of “Beauty and the Beast” (2017), next to Emma Watson and Dan Stevens. The film earned a number of awards, and grossed over $1.2 billion globally, which potentially added a considerable amount to his net worth. Following this success, Luke was chosen for the lead role of William Moulton Marston in the biopic “Professor Marston and the Wonder Women”, about the man who created Wonder Women, the fictional character in the DC Universe.

Luke is now working on several projects, including the TV mystery drama series “The Alienist”, and the Luc Besson’s thriller film “Anna”, both scheduled for release late in 2018.

Regarding his personal life, Luke is openly gay, but was married to Nicola Patterson from 2003, with whom he has two sons and a daughter. He was in a relationship with Spanish model Jon Korajarena from 2014 until 2016.

1[in a September 3, 2002, interview with Paris Barclay in the magazine The Advocate, when asked about gay celebrities who stay closeted] Well, it's not nice. Look at George Michael, let's say. I mean, he hid it for so many years, and then he gets found out in a really awful way.... Y'know, you start a slippery slope downward, and I didn't want to start that at 22. If that means I'm going to be a poor man at 60, then at least I've lived a happy, open, gay life and not had to hide it from anybody. I've had letters from people who have read my articles and said, "I'm a guy, I'm 18, and I've not come out to my mom and dad yet, but it was so nice to hear your story, and you know, I wish your article would have been longer, because you gave me hope for the future." As far as I'm concerned it's not a big issue. You come out, that's it, the end.
2[in a September 3, 2002, interview with Paris Barclay in the magazine The Advocate, when asked about his decision to be open about his homosexuality form the start of his career] Well, it was something I'd spoken to a lot of people about, including my boyfriend at the time - we've broken up now - but at the time when I just got [a role in the musical] Taboo, I knew that even though my part was a straight character everybody knew me as a gay man, and in my life in London I never tried to hide.... I knew I was going to have to do interviews with gay magazines; I knew this was going to happen. So I thought, Well, I'm going to have to be open. It's who I am. And if people don't like it, then I don't want their jobs. I've never been a very good liar, which is another thing..."
3[in a September 3, 2002, interview with Paris Barclay in the magazine The Advocate, when asked about whether might be different to be an openly gay actor in the U.K. than in America?] Well, it depends on how big you are. It's not a big issue, and it's never going to be a big issue for me; whether I'm successful or if I weren't successful, at least I'll never have that skeleton in the closet they can rattle out. Y'know what I mean?
4Good suits don't come from anywhere, though - I mainly wear Armani, Louis Vuitton and Burberry.
5I always wanted to sing, as a child.
6I think sandals should be burnt. I hate them - purge them!
7It's just hard to get an independent film made.
8To me, growing up in South Wales, a pair of Diesel jeans were the thing to have - if you could afford them.
9When I left school, I got a job in a shoe shop and I used to save 15 quid a week and pay for my own singing and acting lessons.
10A guy's biggest style mistake is definitely trying to look too cool. As long as you've got a good pair of jeans, a good pair of boots and a few good shirts, you're fine.
11I felt alive when I read a script and acted out a scene, or sang a song. It was my dream. I'm just very lucky that I'm still doing it and able to earn a living from it.
12One funny thing is, though, I wear my watch on my right hand and I'm actually right-handed. People always wonder why - I don't know myself, I've just always done it that way and I like it the way a good watch fits on my right wrist.
13I always find cardio the most monotonous. Running on a treadmill shows me why hamsters are so crazy.
14Most men have an insecurity of some sort. But we're brought up to believe that we can't show them.
15In 10 years, I'd love to live near the sea, in a warmer climate. I could see myself with three dogs... and it'd be great to share them with someone else.
16And I knew that, being an actor, you have to take the rough with the smooth and the highs with the lows. That's how it is.
17And I love to cook! I've impressed hundreds of women with my cooking. And they always come back for more.

1While Evans was a cast member in the London production of the musical "Taboo," he was interviewed in a 2002 issue of the gay news magazine "The Advocate" by writer and director Paris Barclay. Evans told Barclay that he is an openly gay man and that he was raised in a small southern Welsh village called Aberbargoed by parents who belonged to the Jehovah's Witness church. However, during the early 2010s, when his larger-scale Hollywood career was being launched, Evans (or his publicists speaking on his behalf) were suddenly much more cagey about his previously avowed homosexuality. Time Magazine characterized Evans as "hiding his sexuality" during this period, saying, "Evans, through publicists, refused to comment on his past statements and tended to avoid pronouns in interviews about his significant others, hoping to adopt three dogs and 'share them with someone else' in a 2010 interview with Cosmopolitan." Also in 2010, it was widely reported that Evans was dating a woman, a public relations executive named Holly Goodchild. However, by 2014, Evans was once again wiling to discuss his status as a rare gay action star. In an interview in Women's Wear Daily, Evans was asked if he was setting a precedent for gay actors by playing action-filled roles, Evans responded, "It's good for people to look at me and think this guy is doing his thing and enjoying what he's doing and successful at it and living his life. And that's what I'm doing and I'm very happy.".

5Was considered for the role of Tom Buchanan in The Great Gatsby (2013).
6Has played two Greek gods. Apollo in Clash of the Titans (2010) and Zeus in Immortals (2011).
