Maia Chinassa Campbell Wiki Biography

Maia Chinassa Campbell was born on 26 November 1976, in Takoma Park, Maryland, USA. She is a model and actress, perhaps best known for appearing as the character Nicole in the 1994 TV series “South Central”. She was also a part of the show “In the House” for three seasons portraying Tiffany Warren. All her endeavors have helped put her net worth to where it is today.

How rich is Maia Campbell? As of mid-2016, sources estimate a net worth that is at $1,000, mostly earned through her career as an actress. The reason why her net worth is lower than most actresses is because of problems she encountered later on in life. A mental disorder causes her to act unusually, and also lessened her chances for acting opportunities. Time will tell if she can move past her difficulties and increase her wealth.

Maia is the daughter of two authers, one of whom was Bebe Moore Campbell, an award-winning writer responsible for numerous best-selling novels. Campbell would receive acting opportunities at a young age, eventually becoming a part of “In the House” as a teenager, prior to which she may already have been recognized from the series “South Central” though it aired for just five episodes before being cancelled. She went on to appear in 76 episodes of “In the House” in a role for which she scored a Young Artist Award nomination. She also had other minor roles, and guest appearances in shows such as “Thea” and “Poetic Justice”, in which she starred alongside Janet Jackson. During this time she also hosted a show based on a young adult magazine entitled “Twenty-Four/Seven”. Other shows and films she’s been a part of include “Sister, Sister”, “Beverly Hills 90210”, “The Luau”, and “Sorority Sister Slaughter”. While pursuing her acting career, she also attended Spelman College in Atlanta, but continued to act, mainly in small roles, although eventually became reclusive and appearing less and less on television. Her latest appearance was as herself in an episode of “Iyanla: Fix My Life” during 2012.

For her personal life, it was discovered that she had bipolar disorder, which she tried to hide during her career. This fact was confirmed in her mother’s book “Sometimes My Mommy Gets Angry” which was about a mother and daughter’s mental condition. She married Elias Gutierrez in 1998 and they had a daughter but the marriage ended in 2002. She stopped treatment for bipolar disorder during this time, and was arrested for various crimes which include prostitution, theft and drug possession. Viral videos were also released on the internet showcasing her irrational behavior, which according to reports was a result of drug addiction which made her condition worse. She was sent to a mental facility in 2010, and was released two years later. After her release, she appeared in “Iyanla: Fix My Life”, in which she was reunited with her daughter. This was not the end however, as she was arrested twice in 2015, for disorderly conduct and verbally attacking a family in a Burger King restaurant.
