Emmanuel ‘Manny’ Dapidran Pacquiao was born on 17 December 1978, in Kibawe, Bukidnon Philippines, and is a famous professional boxer, politician and actor, best known for winning 10 world boxing titles, and often referred to as the “Fighter of the Decade”. Manny Pacquiao has risen to prominence due to his professional boxing career, and is a winner of numerous other awards, such as “Fighter of the Year”.
How rich is Manny Pacquiao then? According to sources, Manny Pacquiao’s net worth is estimated to be $190 million, however, this amount will rise considerably when his official earnings for his fight in May 2015 against Floyd Mayweather – reputed to be over $190 million for both boxers – is announced. The majority of Manny Pacquiao’s net worth and annual earnings comes from his career as a professional boxer.
Manny Pacquiao Net Worth $190 Million
Manny Pacquiao attended Notre Dame of Dadiangas University where he studied business management. However, he had already joined an amateur boxing team at the age of 14 and at the age of 16 joined a professional boxing league. Since his earliest start, Pacquiao has proved to be almost unbeatable. As a professional boxer, Pacquiao has had an opportunity to perform in some of the largest venues and competed against such boxers as Erik Morales, Timothy Bradley, Juan Manuel Marquez and Miguel Cotto among many others. With the rise of his fame, Manny Pacquiao’s wealth grew as well. In 2006, he was paid $2 million for his match against Erik Morales, however, in 2009, Pacquiao’s fight against Miguel Cotto brought him an impressive $35 million, which is one of the highest-paid matches in Pacquiao’s career. In 2013, Pacquiao earned $30 million for fighting Brandon Rios, while in 2014 he collected $20 million in his fight against Timothy Bradley. Often referred to as “The Destroyer” and the “Fighting Pride of Philippines”, Manny Pacquiao is not only a professional boxer, but a politician as well. Manny has had 66 fights for 57 wins in seven divisions and 10 world titles.
In 2009, Pacquiao was awarded an honorary Degree of Doctor of Humanities (Honoris Causa) by Southwestern University in recognition of his boxing achievements, and humanitarian work.
In 2007, he ran for a seat in the House of Representatives and even though he did not win the seat then, he was subsequently elected to represent Sarangani province in 2010, and again in 2013.
In addition to politics, Manny Pacquiao is a well-known actor as well. Initially, he worked as a background actor and had minor roles in local movies. In 2007, Pacquiao signed a deal with a television & radio network “GMA Network”, and began making appearances in various television shows. He starred in an infotainment show “Pinoy Records” and even had his own situation comedy show called “Show Me Da Manny”. Pacquiao then went on to appear on Tosh.O with Daniel Tosh, and he is rumored to be working on future projects with Sylvester Stallone.
A world renowned professional boxer, and politician, in his personal life Manny Pacquiao currently resides in Kiamba with his wife Maria Geraldine “Jinkee” Jamora Pacquiao – also a politician – who he married in 2000, and with whom he has five children.
