Ginobili comes from a basketball family, with his two brothers being professional players and his father being a former player and basketball coach. Thus, Ginobili learned to play at an early age. He started to play professionally in 1995 in the Argentine Basketball League, as a member of the Andino Sport Club team. The following year he joined Estudiantes Bahia Blanca of the Argentinian League, in his home town.
