Marianne Evelyn Faithfull (born 29 December 1946) is an English singer, songwriter and actress whose career has spanned five decades. Her early work in pop and rock music in the 1960s was overshadowed by her struggle with drug abuse in the 1970s. During the first two-thirds of that decade, she produced only two little-noticed studio albums. After a long commercial absence, she returned late in 1979 with the highly acclaimed album, Broken English. Faithfull's subsequent solo work, often critically acclaimed, has at times been overshadowed by her personal history. From 1966 to 1970, she had a highly publicised romantic relationship with Rolling Stones' lead singer Mick Jagger. She co-wrote "Sister Morphine", which is featured on the Rolling Stones' Sticky Fingers album. Net Worth | $15 Million |

1 | My favorite instrument in the whole world is the human female voice, and Kate Bush is one of the reasons why. It is by far a Stradivarius, which is why she rarely details with the press or isn't in a rush to record. She's one of the few who can be above all that. |
2 | Once [Mick Jagger] came straight off stage to the hotel where I was waiting and he was absolutely terrifying. He was like somebody possessed. I don't think he even knew who I was. He still had his make-up on and there was a froth of spittle around his mouth and his eyes were violent and he was making grunting sounds. He didn't say a word; just those god-awful grunts. He picked me up and slammed me against the wall. Several times. Afterwards, I don't think he even remembered it. |

1 | British group The Hollies' 1967 hit song "Carrie Anne" was written about her. |
2 | Because of her attempted suicide/drug overdose she was unable to appear in the film Ned Kelly (1970) with her then boyfriend Mick Jagger. |
3 | John Lennon's 1966 song "And Your Bird Can Sing" was inspired by Mick Jagger's relationship to Faithful. |
4 | In 1969, director Tony Richardson cast Faithful in the movie version of Nicol Williamson's Hamlet (1969), which had been an international success. Francesca Annis had played Ophelia to Williamson's Gloomy Dane in London, on Broadway and during an American tour. Ironically, Roman Polanski nixed both Williamson and Faithful for the roles of Macbeth and His Lady in the 1971 adaptation of William Shakespeare's Macbeth (1971), Williamson for lacking sex appeal and Faithful because of her heroin addiction. Polanski cast Annis as Lady Macbeth instead. |
5 | Was best friends with Anita Pallenberg when they both dated The Rolling Stones band members ( Faithfull dated Mick Jagger and Pallenberg dated Brian Jones). |
