He is remembered for the part he played in the investigation of the murder of Ronald Lyle Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson. This case later led to his being charged with a felony and subsequently sentenced for perjury.

That same year, Fuhrman completed a course at the Los Angeles Police Academy and in 1989 was raised to detective rank. After 20 years in the police service and having achieved 55 commendations, Fuhrman retired in 1995. Regretfully, Mark most remembered for the infamous murder case involving Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Lyle Goldman in which he is said to have framed for and charged O. J. Simpson, husband of Nichole Simpson with murder. Fuhrman was ultimately charged with perjury and subsequently sentenced to three years imprisonment.
