McCutcheon has been active in the entertainment industry since 1988.

Martine McCutcheon Net Worth $1.5 million

To begin with, McCutcheon was born when her mother Jenny Tomlin was nineteen, and has a younger brother. Her biological father left her shortly after the birth of the child, and when McCutcheon was nine her mother received the right of sole guardianship over her daughter. At the age of ten, Martine took the surname of her stepfather. McCutcheon wanted to be an artist from an early age, but her family could not pay for the tuition at the Italia Conti Academy of Arts, from which she received an offer. Martine wrote more than two hundred letters to various institutions with requests for financial support, and eventually received sponsorship from the Church of England’s Reeves Foundation.

Concerning her professional career, McCutcheon won her first role in television commercials at the age of 12, and then started working in the model business, plus took episodic roles in television series, such as the police drama “The Bill” aired on the ITV channel. At the age of 15, with two classmates Martine formed the girl group Milan, which turned out to be quite successful at the creative level. She entered the dance charts and even signed a contract for the record, nevertheless, the prospect of appearances in ordinary clubs was not the dream of McCutcheon, and she left that project. In 1994, Martine was offered the role of Tiffany Raymond in the BBC’s popular soap opera “East Enders”. During the project, Tiffany’s role was given more importance in the plot, and the popularity of the actress grew. 22 million viewers watched her last scenes in the series when Tiffany was murdered in a special episode on New Year’s Eve in 1998 – her net worth was now well established.

In 1999, McCutcheon released her first single “Perfect Moment” under the label of Virgin Records, and to the surprise of the critics, the ballad took first place in the British singles charts, and in Italy, Israel, Switzerland and Ireland, the song was also a number one hit. The same year she released her debut album “You, Me & Us” with which she would take second place in the British album charts, and was certified platinum two times. Two more singles followed in the same year – “I’ve Got You” and “Talking in Your Sleep”, both reached top 10 chart places. In 2000, McCutcheon released her second album “Wishing”, which was certified gold, but finished only in 25th place on the UK chart; the singles “I’m Over You” and “On the Radio”, however, reached 2nd and 7th places. Two years later, she released a third album – “Musicality” (2002) – but due to its poor performance her record contract was terminated, and she went on hiatus from music until 2017.

Martine then devoted herself to acting again, participating in television programs, feature films and creating theatre roles. For her interpretation of Eliza Doolittle on stage in “My Fair Lady” she won the Laurence Olivier Award in 2002, then in 2003 the won Empire Award and MTV Movie Award for the Best Newcomer for her role as Natalie in the film “Love Actually” (2003) in which she plays a secretary whose charm is not insensitive to the British Prime Minister played by Hugh Grant.

Recently, the singer released her album “Lost and Found” (2017), yet it did not enter the charts. From 2016 to 2017, she served as a panellist on the show “Loose Women”.

Finally, in the personal life of Martine, she was engaged to DJ Gareth Cooke, however, they broke up in 1996. In 2012, she married singer Jack MacManus, and in 2015 gave birth to a son.

In 2013 Martine was declared bankrupt, owing significant taxes, but has managed to clear her debts.

#Quote
1I look very different on camera compared with how I do in real life. On camera, I look my best when everything is enhanced, especially my eyes - I like a smoky eye. In real life, I like myself best in tinted moisturiser, lip balm and mascara.
2I think you have to be careful not to do too much as yourself. Otherwise you stop getting the acting roles, and at the end of the day that's what I love.
3I'm a Taurean, so I'm very passionate and determined and materialistic. Down the years, I've spent a lot of money and saved a bit of money and had a lot of fun.
4I've been told if you're an actress you can't sing, if you're a dancer you can't act, you can't do theatre and be respected if you've done a TV soap, you can't have a No. 1 record. All these different things they've told me I can't do, but I wanted to do them, so I've done them.
5It's taken a while, but I've finally grown up and got my head around the fact that the healthier the food you eat is and the more exercise you do, the lighter you'll be. It really is that simple.
6When I was younger, I used to look at movie stars with pencil-thin noses and think about a nose job. I've got a grown-up baby nose; it's not chiseled and structured. Then I saw how beautiful Audrey Tatou was in 'Amelie' and thought, 'She's got a nose like mine, and if she can have a baby nose, so can I.'
7I never rule anything out. I'm an entertainer. Be it presenting, singing, acting, I just do things I love.
8I run or walk three times a week. I do Pilates, too, which is amazing - it makes you longer and leaner.
9I think it takes time to find your natural style and learn not to be swayed by trends that might not flatter you.
10I want to make my mum's life and my life safe.
11I've grown up in the public eye, and every decision I've made has always been so public and often inaccurately reported.
12I've never pretended to be a supermodel.
13If you're a man and you ask questions, you're a genius; if you're a woman, you're difficult.
14There are times when I'm so bored with being healthy and organic that I crave sugar and additives.
15Any actress will tell you - it's really hard. If you're not an A-list Hollywood movie star, if you're in the middle, there are people who assume you wouldn't do certain things without even asking you, when actually you probably would. And there are people who always think you are busy doing something else.
16Any actress will tell you, when you've been given a starring role in the initial run of a show, you want to be getting the standing ovations every night, not just on review night.
17A huge part of youth is how you behave: I'm always looking for fun and anything that makes me feel alive - that in itself keeps me feeling young.
18Adele is great because she promotes the idea of being happy as you are.
19Eating lighter makes you lighter. No one can wave a magic wand.
20For me, the show must go on - it doesn't matter how ill you are, you get on and do it.
21I believe love isn't simple, and it's one of the things that makes people break all the rules.
22I can't dance on ice, because I'm like Bambi on ice.
23I don't think for a second that I'm the best at anything, but I know I'm really good at quite a lot of things because I work hard.
24I don't want to fly the flag for being unhealthy and overweight, but I don't want to fly the flag for being too thin, either.
25I eat foods such as fish, chicken, fruit and vegetables while avoiding red meat, dairy and wheat.
26I love nice things - I consider Ralph Lauren sheets to be a necessity, not a luxury - but I've known what it's like to be poor.
