Mary Stuart Masterson was born on 28 June 1966, in New York City, USA, and is a director and actress probably best known for appearing in films such as “Some Kind of Wonderful”, “Beeny & Joon”, and “Chances Are”. All of her endeavors have helped put her net worth to where it is today.

How rich is Mary Stuart Masterson? As of early-2017, sources estimate a net worth that is at $1 million, mostly earned through a successful career in acting. She’s won several awards including the National Board of Review Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in “Immediate Family”, and was nominated for a Tony Award for her performance in the Broadway revival of “Nine”. As she continues her career, it is expected that her wealth will increase.

During her teens, Masterson would attend the Stagedoor Manor Performing Arts Training Center, where she was classmates with Robert Downey, Jr. She then studied at New York University for eight months, focusing on anthropology before deciding to commit to her acting career.

One of her first film appearances was when she was eight years old in “The Stepford Wives”, portraying the daughter of her real life father Peter Masterson. However, she did not pursue a career as a child actor, instead focusing on studies, although appearing in several productions. She returned to the screen a decade later in “Heaven Help Us”. In 1986, she was cast in “At Close Range” which starred Christopher Walken and Sean Penn, and the following year she was cast in “Some Kind of Wonderful” and “Gardens of Stone”, which also featured her parents. In 1989, she was cast as Lucy Moore in the film “Immediate Family” which would win her a Best Supporting Actress Award from the National Board of Review of Motion Pictures. Her net worth was starting to increase at a rapid pace.

Her career continued in the 1990s with roles in “Fried Green Tomatoes” which was based on a novel by Fanny Flagg, which received critical praise and led to her appearing in “Saturday Night Live”. She then starred in “Benny & Joon” opposite Johnny Depp. In 1994, she appeared in “Bad Girls” as former prostitute Anita Crown, and in 1996 in the drama “Bed of Roses” alongside Christian Slater.

In the 2000s, her career focused more on television with a few films here and there. She produced her own series entitled “Kate Brasher” which was short lived, but then starred in the HBO drama “Something the Lord Made” which would win numerous awards. In 2003, she appeared on stage in the Broadway production entitled “Nine: The Musical”, being nominated for a Tony Award for her performance, and would then foray into narrating several audio books, including “Book of the Dead” and “I See You Everywhere”. Thanks to her numerous opportunities, her net worth has continued to build up.

While having numerous acting opportunities, Mary has also done directing work, making her directing debut in 2007 with “The Cake Eaters” which received an Audience Award at the Ashland Independent Film Festival. She had been interested in directing years back, but focused on acting instead because making a movie took much more time.

For her personal life, Masterson married George Carl Francisco in 1990 but their marriage ended two years later. In 2000, she married director Damon Santostefano and their marriage lasted four years. In 2006 she married actor Jeremy Davidson, and they now have four children.

1I learn a lot from acting, but it's not my natural way. I can't help but write; I do it all the time. It's a condition of being for me. I think I am a writer, but professionally I feel drawn to and suited for directing. As far as producing, I like to facilitate other people's good work. With acting I like to be in ensemble pieces.
2I love film sets, but I don't necessarily love being the center of attention. As a director, I get to have a much broader creative expression than as an actress. I'm not just blond and 5 ft. 4 in. - on why she stepped behind the camera
3"This is a move directly from my shower onto the stage, from singing in my shower to Broadway." - on her Musical debut (2003)
4I just always loved to sing, but I was always too chicken. I got a wonderful singing teacher in Los Angeles, and I would sneak into his studio and work on technique and sing songs and skulk out, and that was as far as I got. That was years ago, so I finally said to my agent, 'I think I need to try the singing thing.' And they're like, 'What? You can sing? You've been working how many years and you never told anybody this?' So I auditioned and somehow ended up here. I don't know how it happened.
