Lewis has been acting since he was five years old, making appearances on television in minor roles such as his debut in “Some Kind of Life”. He attended St. Mary’s Menston Catholic Voluntary Academy while concurrently pursuing his acting career.

His first major film opportunity came when he auditioned for the role of Neville Longbottom. He was successful, and was subsequently cast for all eight “Harry Potter” films which boosted his popularity and net worth significantly. He was named as one of the seven major characters in the series according to author J. K. Rowling, since being cast for all the films. One notable incident he had on set was when he ruptured an eardrum as a result of an accident with Helena Bonham Carter. This was the scene in which a wand was put to his ear.

After shooting the final films of “Harry Potter”, Matthew started to get a lot more opportunities, such as in the indie film entitled “The Sweet Shop”. He then appeared in “The Syndicate” which was a five part television series that aired in 2012. Afterwards, Lewis appeared in a music video by A Band of Buriers which was called “Filth”. He then starred in the film “Wasteland”, otherwise known as “The Rise”. One of his latest projects is entitled “Me Before You” in which he plays the character Patrick.

He has also appeared in a production of “Our Boys” alongside Laurence Fox and Arthur Davill, which aired during late 2012.

He also lent his voice for the theme park attraction entitled “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey”. His net worth rose with all these projects.

For his personal life, there is no public information on his private life, except that it is known that Matthew associates himself a lot with the number 11, which according to him has been a sign of good luck. He has a tattoo of the number on his right arm and even has clothes with that number. He currently resides in London, and is the vice-president of the Leeds Rugby Foundation charity.

1The great thing about filming a film is that you all have your final day's shooting, but you always know that you're all going to be coming back for the premiere.
2I'm very professional.
3If someone wants to employ me, whoever wants to employ me, I'll go and do that. I just want to work.
4I'm very self-conscious as an actor, with performances and things, and I don't like watching my own stuff.
5I'm not a big fan of people knowing too much about me.
6I wasn't bullied or anything at school, but I was quite shy and didn't speak up too much in class.
7I'm very comfortable being at home and keeping my head down, really. It's nice being invited to night clubs and stuff, which is nice once in a while, but I prefer to kind of keep to myself.
8You know, girls in general are scarier than Voldemort.
9Twitter is the limit of me putting myself out there.
10Leeds is quite laid-back.

12I get recognized now and again, but the paparazzi aren't following me around.
13I mean, I must confess I don't own Harry Potter DVDs. My parents do. They have them all. And they like watching them.
14I never went to drama school.
15I think as an actor you're always learning, you're always trying to experience more things.
16I wasn't attractive when I was growing up, and I don't think I am now.
17A lot of people struggle in their younger years, and I think people can relate to that.

20The great thing as an actor is that I don't know what my agent is going to call me with next.
21The fame stuff, the kind words from websites and things, are very flattering and lovely, but I just wanna act.
