Lorenzo Jerald Patterson is a Compton, California-born rapper who is better known by his stage name “MC Ren”. Born on 14 July 1969, MC is of Afro-American descent, who is best known for being a former member of the hip-hop group M.W.A. MC Ren has been active in music industry since 1987.
A recognized rapper and the owner of a record label, how rich is MC Ren? As of 2015, MC counts his net worth at a decent $1 million which he has amassed from his more than twenty-five year-long musical career. His wealth is also heavily contributed to from his own record label Villain Entertainment, which he founded and currently owns.
MC Ren Net Worth $1 Million
Born into an average family, in his early teenage years MC was a member of the street gang named Kelly Park Compton Crips., and also in the gang was another famous-to-be rapper, Eazy-E. MC found his interest in music while a member of the gang, starting to focus more on his hip-hop music and forming a group called Awesome Crew 2, which performed at parties and social events. MC Ren eventually graduated from Dominguez High School, and then started a professional career in rapping when he met-up with his childhood friend Eazy-E.
Initially, MC Ren was a songwriter for Eazy-E, and then for the hip-hop group M.W.A. for their album Straight Outta Compton. He later became a member of the group, which consisted of Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, DJ Yella, Young Stars as well as “MC Ren”, all becoming well-known in their own right. The group began rapping under Eazy-E’s label “Ruthless Records”, but after releasing a string of popular albums with the band, MC Ren started his own solo career in rap in 1992. His solo EP “Kizz My Black Azz” which he released that year became an instant hit and went on to get platinum certified. In the same year he also released his solo studio album entitled “Life Sentence”. All of these albums gained popularity for Ren and also added extensively to his net worth.
As of now, Ren has been a part of more than ten album releases. Apart from rapping, he has also appeared in the Hollywood movie “Lost in the Game” as well as other documentaries and concert films. On top of a musical career, MC Ren’s recording label “Villain Entertainment” has also been providing stability and fame to him in the music industry.
Talking about his personal life, MC Ren is noted for his religion, as he found his faith and converted to Islam beginning in 1993. Ren has shown his expertise in keeping a low key when it comes to his personal affairs as nothing can be concluded about his personal life. The only thing we know is that MC Ren is at the present a millionaire with his net worth amounting to $1 million. A total music enthusiast and well-received rapper, MC Ren is still very active in the music industry of the USA.
Former member of pioneering gangsta rap group NWA; now a solo artist.
