Megan Ellison Net Worth $100 million

Megan attended Sacred Heart Preparatory school, and after matriculating attended the University of Southern California’s film school for a year.

In 2006, Ellison started her career when she and Katherine Brooks decided to formulate plans for “Waking Madison”, a film about a woman who has multiple personality disorder and locks herself in a room without food. The film would cost $2 million and it would go straight on to DVD. She continued financing for movies including “Main Street” which got little attention, and “Passion Play” which had a lot of popular actors in it but was poorly received. Eventually, she was able to find success with the Coen brothers’ film “True Grit”, which gained both critical and commercial success in 2010, and certainly helped elevate Megan’s net worth.

Thanks to that film’s success, Megan would start investing larger sums of money which led to the creation of “Catch .44” starring Forest Whitaker and Bruce Willis. She also produced “Lawless” and started collaborating with the Creative Artists Agency. In 2011, she founded Annapurna Pictures which has the goal of investing in original movies made by prestigious screenwriters and directors. One of the company’s first projects was “The Master”, which starred Joaquin Phoenix and is about a cult similar to scientology. Afterwards, the company worked on “Zero Dark Thirty” which is about the killing of Osama Bin Laden, and then worked on “The Hurt Locker”. and bought the rights to “The Terminator” franchise. however they soon disassociated from it.

In 2014, Megan would gain even more popularity after gaining two Academy Award nominations for “Her” and “American Hustle”, becoming the first woman to ever receive two best picture Academy Award nominations in the same year. The success of these films continued to build-up her net worth. One of her latest projects is “A House in the Sky” which is the story of Amanda Lindhout, and her capture by Somali rebels.

Thanks to her achievements, she was named on the 2014 “40 Under 40” list from Advocate.

For her personal life, it is known that Megan has openly declared as a lesbian; she was previously in a relationship with Robyn Shapiro. Megan’s brother is Skydance Productions CEO David Ellison. She competes in sailing races, speedboat races, and equestrian races as well. Her company name of Annapurna is named after the famous Himalayan circuit which she hiked years before the creation of her company.
