Miguel Ángel Jimenez was born on the 5th January 1964, in Malaga, Spain, and is a professional golfer. During his career he has been part of two Ryder Cup wins as well as winning more than 35 professional golf tournaments. Jimenez has been active as a professional sportsman since 1982.

To begin with, the boy was raised in Malaga neighbourhood of Churriana. His first contact with golf was at age 15, when he left his studies to work at the Torrequebrada golf course, under the guidance of his older brother Juan. After three years, he moved to the professional world (1982).

Miguel began to play on the European circuit in 1988, obtaining his first title in 1992 at the Open of Belgium. His best years in golf have been in 1996, when he finished 5th in the order of merit, as well as in 1998 and 1999, when he ended 4th in the order of merit. In addition, in 1999 he was runner-up at the WGC-American Express tournament, which is one of the elite golf world championships. The same year Miguel debuted with the European team in the Ryder Cup. He also has numerous awards to his credit, including the Royal Spanish Golf Medal of Merit in 1999 and the Andalusian Sports Merit Medal in 2001. Jimenez also holds the course record at the Parador de Malaga Golf Club, with 63 strokes, achieved during the PGA Turespaña Golf Masters in 1999, which he won. The same number of strokes he managed to make playing in the National Peugeot OKI Championship, where he also scored a victory.

After his game quality seemed to have declined, in 2004 he returned and managed to reach again the 4th position in the order of European merit. In 2010, he made a memorable season, with three individual victories and a victory in Ryder after an outstanding performance. Two years later he contributed to European success as vice – captain in the 2012 Ryder Cup and became the oldest player in history to win a tournament of the European circuit, the UBS Hong Kong Open. At the moment he is the first Spanish classified in the order of European merit occupying the 6th position. Only Sergio Garcia, Jose Maria Olazábal and Miguel of Spanish players maintain cards on the two most important circuits in the world in golf: American and European.

Jimenez has designed a golf course in the Czech Republic: Prosper Golf Club, which is located 30 km from the city of Ostrava. The first 18-hole course was inaugurated in 2002 and the new course, also 18-holes in 2004. He has also been an advisor for field renovations at Montecastillo (Jerez) and Real Club de Golf de Sevilla.
