Although born in Summit, Miles grew up in Garfield, New Jersey with his sister, and went to Garfield High School, where he not only played football but also excelled in track and field and basketball as well. While competing in track and field his accomplishments included the third-longest javelin throw in Bergen County recording 65.44meters, and was third in the triple jump event at the 2001 New Jersey Meet of Champions. Regarding his football career, he earned All-Bergen County honors and All-State honors.
After matriculating, Miles enrolled at Monmouth University where he continued with his football career, playing for the Monmouth Hawks football, and set the record for the most receiving yards with 2,867 and also had 33 touchdowns.
After college, he wasn’t selected in the 2006 NFL Draft, however, he was signed by the Dallas Cowboys, which marked the beginning of his professional career.
He was used as a kick-off returner, and had several notable results in the first season, including three kick-offs returns for 136 yards in the game, including a 93-yard touchdown return accomplished in the postseason game against the Seattle Seahawks. In the second season he became the starting kick-off returner, and also had his first reception. From the 2008 season his career began to improve, as he started playing in the position of wide receiver, and had two seasons over 1,000 receiving yards – in 2009 he had 1,320 and 11 touchdowns, and in 2010 had 1,041 and seven touchdowns. 2013 was his lowest, playing in 11 games and not scoring, with only 244 yards; as a result he was released by the club.
