Having matriculated, she earned her Master’s degree from Princeton University, in public policy, after which she went on to start off her career in journalism working for KHNL-TV as a reporter from 1995, and throughout the course of next two years.

Moving forwards, Nancy has subsequently worked on some of the most prominent channels throughout the two decades of her career in journalism, including WJLA-TV in Washington, D.C. where she reported on stories such as the September 11 attack on the Pentagon, sniper attacks and the 2000 presidential race, among others, remaining with the channel until 2003.

Nancy then joined the Washington-based News One, which was in correlations with ABC News, one of the most prominent TV news channels, so two years later, Cordes moved sideways to join as a correspondent for the New York-based ABC News, and covered stories such as Hurricane Katrina and the Iraqi war. Nancy remained busy and dedicated to her career throughout all that time, which eventually resulted in her career progress such that after her partnership with ABC News finished, she joined CBS in 2007, where she still works as Congressional correspondent as of today.
