Natalie Dormer grew up in Reading with her stepfather, mother, brother Mark, and sister Samantha. She went to Chiltern Edge Secondary School, and later to Reading Blue Coat School, Dormer claimed that she was bullied while at school, and she never knew the reason for it. Natalie was a first-class student, though, travelled around the world with the public speaking team, and was a captain of the school’s netball team.

During her school days, Dormer took dance classes at the Allenova School of Dancing, and afterwards she trained in drama at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London. Only six months after her graduation, Dormer had her debut role in Lasse Hallström’s “Casanova” (2005) starring Heath Ledger, Sienna Miller, and Jeremy Irons. Natalie also had a smaller role in the TV series “Distant Shores” (2005), and appeared in one episode of “Rebus” (2006), all contributing to her net worth.

Dormer was then cast in Michael Radford’s thriller “Flawless” (2007) with Demi Moore, Michael Caine, Lambert Wilson, before her breakthrough part of Anne Boleyn in Michael Hirst’s “The Tudors” (2007-2010) starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Henry Cavill, and Anthony Brophy. She received very positive critiques for her portrayal of Anne Boleyn whom she played for the first two seasons, and was nominated for two Gemini Awards (2008 and 2009) for the role.

After this success, Dormer was cast frequently, and appeared in Ali F. Mostafa’s drama-romance film “City of Life” (2009), the blockbuster “Captain America: The First Avenger” (2011), and in Madonna’s “W.E.” (2011). In the same year, Natalie also participated in the TV series “The Fades” and “Silk”, appearing in six episodes of each. Her net worth benefited accordingly.

2012 was crucial for her career, as she was cast in the role of Margaery Tyrell in the smash-hit series “Game of Thrones”, playing the princess of Tyrell house and later the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms; Dormer received two Screen Actors Guild Award (2014, 2015) nominations thanks to her skills. In 2013, Natalie appeared in Ron Howard’s “Rush” starring Daniel Brühl, Chris Hemsworth, and Olivia Wilde, and in Ridley Scott’s “The Counselor” with Michael Fassbender, Penélope Cruz, and Cameron Diaz. She had a role in six episodes of “Elementary” (2013-2015) with Jonny Lee Miller, Lucy Liu, Aidan Quinn, in Lone Scherfig’s “The Riot Club” (2014), and in Francis Lawrence’s “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1” (2014) starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth.

Most recently, Natalie Dormer appeared in “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2” (2015) and starred in Jason Zada’s horror flick “The Forest” (2016). She’s currently working on three movies – “The God Four”, “Official Secrets”, and “In Darkness” in pre-production, and in post-production of Stefan Ruzowitzky’s “Patient Zero” which will be released in 2017.

1I'm a bit of a wimp to be honest, when it comes to horror movies. When I was a girl and someone would bring the latest slasher film to a sleepover, I was the one hiding in my sleeping bag. I'm not into violence for gratuities sake - pornographic violence. It has to inform the story.
2I love those women that I play that have sexual power. But I'm trying to step away from it for me, and my artistic growth. It's more about who I am. I'm not that woman.
3Well during the first season, Alfie [Allen], Richard [Madden], and several of the men got naked -- although not all the way. I suppose it's just the rules of broadcast television, isn't it? I think Thrones has been better than your average show with the equality, but they could definitely ramp it up! Absolutely.
4Oh, it's fantastic stuff, all about the young "Henry VIII" and his brash, vibrant court. It's everything a period drama shouldn't be: super-sexy, raw, and violent (On The Tudors (2007)).
5I'm a Volver type of girl, 21 Grams (2003), films like that. On the edge and really risky.
6I know people think that acting is not quite the occupation of grown-ups, but it is actually the ultimate learning process: You get a multitude of experiences, all for the price of one life.
1Her names originates from the Late Latin name Natalia. It is derived from the Latin phrases natale domini, "birth of Lord", or dies natalis, "Birthday".
2Despite rumours that Dormer is related to historical lady-in-waiting Jane Dormer, who served Queen Mary I, they have no familial connection. On this subject, Dormer stated, "It's one of these fabricated Wikipedia facts that is completely false. I don't know my heritage at all; I've never traced it! There was a woman, called Jane Dormer, in the Royal Court who happened to have the same family name as me, but I think that's as far as it goes.".
3Participated in the 2014 London Marathon [April 22, 2014].
4Has played the mothers of both of England's "Queen Elizabeths". She portrayed "Anne Boleyn" in Showtime's series, The Tudors (2007), opposite Jonathan Rhys Meyers, and was later cast as the "Queen Mother" by Madonna in her film, W.E. (2011), which was based on the romance between Duke of Windsor and his twice-divorced American mistress/wife, Duchess of Windsor.
5Her role in Casanova (2005) was originally written to be much smaller. But Natalie so impressed Director Lasse Hallström, he expanded her part, and also injected more humor into the role once he realized how well Natalie handled comedy.
6On the basis of her performance in Casanova (2005), Natalie has a 3 picture deal with Disney/Touchstone.
7Trained at the Webber Douglas Academy in London whose alumni include Rupert Friend, Matthew Goode, Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth Knowelden and Minnie Driver.
