He is a seminary professor, theologian, and psychologist probably best known as being the founder of dating websites “Compatible Partners” and “eHarmony”. He’s also written numerous books, and is a writer for various publications. All his endeavors have helped put his net worth to where it is today.

Warren interest in relationships and compatibility started at a young age, as according to him his parents had difficulty communicating even though they were eventually married for 70 years. He attended and graduated from Pepperdine University before attending Princeton Theological Seminary to get his Master’s in Divinity during 1959. He then went on to study at the University of Chicago, earning his Ph.D in Psychology in 1967.

While attending the University of Chicago, he worked there as a professor and then became the dean of the Fuller Theological Seminary’s Graduate School of Psychology. He also worked as a private clinical psychologist, which was a two-way street as he learnt as much as he could from the various couples he worked with. He continued in this job for 35 years, and while doing so wrote his findings in various books and publications.

One of his first written works was as a pamphlet in 1975, entitled “Selecting a Marriage Partner”. He would go on and write numerous books, including “Date or Soul Mate?: How to Know If Someone Is Worth Pursuing in Two Dates or Less”, and “Learning to Live with the Love of Your Life”.

In 1995, along with Greg Forgatch his son-in-law, he founded Neil Clark Warren & Associates. The company offered teaching tools and seminars based on Warren’s book “Finding the Love of Your Life”. Five years later, he changed the direction of the company, having the idea of helping people find the right partner based on compatibility. He founded the website “eHarmony” in 2000 along with Greg, and became part of the Board of Directors. “eHarmony” focused on certain categories for compatibility including personality, emotional makeup, skills, character, constitution, family and values. In 2007, he retired from the company, but returned in 2012 to become the CEO because of conflicts in direction. He tried to expand the relationship site to include parenting and employment. He continues to work as the company’s CEO.

For his personal life, it is known that he married Marylyn Warren in 1959, and they have three children. Neil is very vocal about his religious beliefs, and according to him, it influences his work. His beliefs are clearly seen in his written work and interviews. He also does not allow same-sex matches on “eHarmony”, taking a stand against same-sex marriage.
