Alexander Graham Bell Wiki: Salary, Married, Wedding, Spouse, Family
Alexander Graham Bell (March 3, 1847 – August 2, 1922) was an eminent Scottish-born scientist, inventor, engineer and innovator who is credited with inventing the first practical telephone.Bell's father, grandfather, and brother had all been associated with work on elocution and speech, and both his mother and wife were deaf, profoundly influencing Bell's life's work. His research on hearing and speech further led him to experiment with hearing devices which eventually culminated in Bell being awarded the first U.S. patent for the telephone in 1876. In retrospect, Bell considered his most famous invention an intrusion on his real work as a scientist and refused to have a telephone in his study. Many other inventions marked Bell's later life, including groundbreaking work in optical telecommunications, hydrofoils and aeronautics. In 1888, Bell became one of the founding members of the National Geographic Society.
Inventor, Scientist, Engineer, Professor, Teacher of the deafref| While Bell worked in many scientific, technical, professional and social capacities throughout his life he would remain fondest of his earliest vocation. To the end of his days, when discussing himself, Bell would always add with pride "I am a teacher of the deaf".|group="N"

Developed what has since been recognized as the world's first metal detector to try the locate the bullet inside the body of President James A. Garfield, who had been shot by Charles J. Guiteau on July 2, 1881. While Garfield's doctor, Dr. Willard Bliss, told reporters Bell found the bullet, in fact, he had not because Bliss would not allow Bell to examine the left side of Garfield's body, where the coroner later found the bullet. Garfield died from massive infection and blood poisoning on September 19, 1881. A medical inquiry determined Garfield's death was primarily the result of the incompetence of his doctors, most notably, Bliss.
