Nicholas has a twin brother, who was born three minutes after him. During his childhood years, he had a problem with stuttering, and started taking acting classes to overcome it. He also wanted to become a baseball player, but he became focused on acting instead.

When it comes to his education, he studied medicine for a short time, but quit and returned to acting. Nicholas` career began in 1993, with a minor role in the sitcom “Married With Children”, and then decided to quit acting, stating that he couldn`t stand Hollywood politics. However, two years later he was back in Hollywood, landing the role of Xander Harris in the highly popular TV series “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” (1996-2003), alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar. The role not only increased his net worth by a large margin, but also confirmed him as an actor, enabling him to be cast in notable roles.
While the show lasted, he also featured in the films “Psycho Beach Party” (2000), with Lauren Ambrose and Thomas Gibson, and “Survival Instinct” (2002).

After the end of the “Buffy The Vampire Slayer”, he waited a few years for a new long-term engagement, and found one in the TV series “Kitchen Confidential” (2005-2006), and in 2007, he was selected for the role of Kevin Lynch in the highly popular crime drama TV series “Criminal Minds” (2007-2014). In 2009 he appeared in the film “A Golden Christmas”, and two years later he was cast as the lead protagonist in the film “Hard Love” with Stuart Sone and Bianca Kajlich, which further increased his net worth. In 2013, he secured another successful role, in the film “Coherence” (2013) with Maury Sterling and Emily Baldoni, and a year later appeared in “Indigo”, adding a substantial amount to his net worth.

To speak further of his accomplishments, Nicholas starred in “Attack Of The Morningside Monster” (2014), and has recently appeared in a few episodes of the TV series “Faking It” (2014-2016), and will appear in the film “Snatched”, but the film is yet to receive a release date.

Regarding his personal life, Nicholas was briefly married to Moonda Tee; the couple married in October 2014 in Las Vegas, and separated in February 2015. His first wife was Tressa di Figlia, whom he married in 2001, and their marriage lasted until 2007, when they divorced.

Throughout his life, Nicholas battled with alcohol addiction, and went through a number of rehabilitation facilities, and was arrested a number of times, due to his aggressive behavior after alcohol abuse. He also featured in the “Dr. Phil Show” in 2015.

In reference to his own problem, Brendon worked as the honorary chairperson for National Stuttering Awareness Week from 2001-03.

1I never, ever thought that Xander should be in construction. [At the science fiction and fantasy convention DragonCon in 2006, when asked if there was ever a time when he thought that Xander was written to be "out of character."]
2We had better music at Sunnydale's prom than at my real-life prom. And at my prom, I didn't really have a date, which is sort of what happens to Xander. At my real prom, I kind of ducked out the hotel ballroom and watched a Dodger game until 3 a.m. because it went about 22 innings. And my friends were saying, 'Oh no! Where'd Nick go?' I think I was trying to get people to worry about me. That whole teenage angst thing. [New York Times, May 9, 1999]
3[on Joss Whedon's decision to end "BtVS" because of handling too many projects:] Joss always wanted to be attached to it, and as his schedule's becoming thinner, it's harder for him to be a part of the show. It was his baby, so if he can't be a part of it like he wants to, then it's just not gonna run. It's gonna be really sad for me after 144 episodes. It was my first job. I went through a lot of changes personally in that time, so it's gonna be a teary goodbye. [May 2, 2002]
4[on preparing to finish the BtVS series:] It sucks, because with how this year ended, and with what's gonna happen next year, it's gonna go out on top. We're having a lot of fun doing it. This last year was my most fun year doing the show. But that's life in showbiz, and I'll just do something else. [May 2, 2002]
5[on why "Buffy" never won Emmy Awards:] "It's because it's called Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997). I mean, we've even joked about how we should do an episode where Sarah [Michelle Gellar] is a doctor, I'm a lawyer ... get every angle they vote for just to give them a big one of those [raises his middle finger]."
6I want people to say, 'Nicholas Brendon, he's supposedly the nicest guy in the world.' I want to do good work, but more than that, I want to stay a good human being. That's more important than any character I play.
